I'm sure you all heard about the winterstorm that Texas and Oklahoma had a

few weeks ago. It was a wonderfullyhorrible week. I have always loved the

snow, but I was not expecting the chaosit would cause down here. Before it

started, we bought some blankets to giveout to the homeless. We couldn't find

any, as they had already hunkered down.We got close to a foot of snow in three

days! Anna and I had fun playing in it forthe first several days. It lost some of the

appeal after we lost water. We had aneighbor with a busted pipe and a leak inthe laundry room so our water got shutoff to fix it. We were so blessed that wenever lost power or heat like so many

other people did.

Before we get to the exciting newsof this month, I have to start offwith some sad news. One of myteammates, Kaylee decided to

leave AIM earlier this month. Shehad some things going on and

decided she needed to be closerto family. She didn't want to leave, but ultimately made that choice

and moved out part way throughthe month. The three of us are

supportive of her choice and areexcited to see Kaylee when she

visits.

Quartz Mountain ChristianCamp is the summer camp thatFaith Village youth goes to, andLord willing we'll get to work at

this summer. Like mostsummer camps, they're reallystruggling right now becausethey didn't get to host camps

last year. Faith Village is havinga special contribution comingup for them. Since everyone

enjoyed the boxes we made forMission Sunday, we were

rehired to make some newboxes. A couple of them didn't

quite turn out the way weintended for them, but it was

fun to make them nonetheless.

QMCC CONTRIBUTION MUSTANGS FOR CHRISTOne of my favorite ministries is

Mustangs for Christ. This is the collegeministry at Midwestern State University.

There is a meal on Sundays and aWednesday bible class that we regularlyattend. There is also a ladies bible study

on Tuesdays that we go to as well. Ihave the opportunity to lead this weeks

discussion. I wrote the lesson aboutdiscipleship and hopefully we'll be able

to learn from each other. I enjoy thisministry because it's something we

don't have at home. It's nice to hang outwith people my age that are also faithful

and grow together.

The day before Valentines day, there was a youth girls party. Wehad a delicious breakfast and then discussed silence and

solitude. We focused on a few verses and talked about how toapply them to our lives. Silence and solitude is an importantspiritual discipline for me, and as it seems for a lot of people

these days. It's nice to put away the distractions and think aboutGod. It's also difficult because there are so many other things todo that it really makes me have to be intentional about the timethat I spend with our Savior. After all, it wouldn't be a discipline

if it was easy.

The Constitution and Protection “When all is said and done the Constitution of the United States is a set of words on a piece of paper. The only way that the Constitution can protect us is if we protect the Constitution.” – Thomas Sowell

God and You “God knows what’s in our hearts. We might as well get right to the point.” “True faith involves doing all you can and letting God take care of the rest.” – Bruce Bickel and Stan Jantz

What Fear Can Do to You “I have found a large class of men, professors, too, who will sit for a year rather than rise up crooked. They are conscientious men; but they do nothing right lest they should do something wrong.” – Alexander Campbell

Concealing Ability ”There is great ability in knowing how to conceal one’s ability.”–François, Duc de la Rochefoucauld, Maxim 245

You’ll Be Number Two “This shrewd man’s knack in handling people was most skillful. A big church had a fuss going that was getting hotter and hotter. In an effort to heal the breach and prevent a split, they called in some preachers who gave sharp warning against division and warm exhortations for unity. But nobody spoke as briefly (fourteen words) and as effectively as grandpa. Knowing their pride and how they gloried in their size—the largest church in their fellowship—he walked out and in a low-pitched tone said, ‘You had better get together; for if you split, then you’ll be Number Two,’ and sat down.” – Leroy Brownlow
