“Behold the man!” (John 19:5) proclaimed the unwitting preacher Pontius Pilate in one of the shortest yet most profound sermons ever recorded. This will be our endeavor this Lententide during the Sunday morning Bible Study Time at 9:30 a.m. and at the Wednesday morning Bible Brunch each week at 10:00 a.m.
Behold the man, God in human flesh, Jesus. His incarceration will provide the basis for our meditation and proclamation on His Passion. Please join us in contemplating the inescapable fact — indeed the most important fact in the course of human history — that God became man. Discussion led by Craig Chaddock Classes will meet in the Conference Room.
Bible Study on Tuesdays at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary. Each week there will be a new topic to explore and discuss while reading supporting verses in the Bible. John Strang will be facilitating the discussions.

JōB Why me, God?” is something we utter when things just aren’t going our way. It seems to be the question that a certain man from the land of Uz named Job was asking about 3,000 years ago as he suffered a series of personal tragedies. In these 40 days leading up to our celebration of Jesus’ resurrection, we will see how God responds to this question of “Why me,” as we mediate on the Book of Job. Join us March 10-April 10 for our Sunday and Wednesday worship services as we examine the various responses to suffering by Job, his friends and ultimately God that are revealed in the book: The worship times are 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. on Sundays and at 12:15 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Also during Lent you may study the entire Book of Job with us by using a booklet of daily devotions that Pastor Tony has prepared. Copies of the devotion booklet are available in the church narthex/lobby area.

THE FISHING TRIPS AND DINNER The Fishing Trips scheduled for March had to be cancelled due to bad weather. We regret that this is occurring, but weather, at this time apparently, is too unpredictable. Because this will affect our Dinner scheduled for April 13th, both events are cancelled for now. Money is being returned for the fishing reservations
Fishing trips will be offered at a later date when the weather is more stable. Captain Tim still wishes to take our people fishing. When enough fish are caught, then we will schedule the dinner.
Trading places During a 2018 terrorist attack in France, Lt. Colonel Arnaud Beltrame sacrificed his life for a stranger’s. He willingly swapped places with a store clerk who was being used as a human shield. After several hours of trying to end the standoff, Beltrame was killed.
At the hero’s funeral, President Emmanuel Macron said Beltrame knew the risk but realized “the example has to be set from the top.” And Father Jean-Baptiste said only the officer’s faith could explain his sacrifice: Beltrame “knew, as Jesus said to us, that, ‘There is no greater love than to give one’s life for one’s friends.’ I believe that only a Christian faith moved by charity could [account] for this superhuman sacrifice.”
