DISTANCE LEARNING CONTINUES At Our Savior Lutheran School, Distance Learning will continue daily for our preschool through 8th grade as we continue to support the decisions of our state and county to work together to protect the lives of not just our families, but also our neighbors, and those who risk their health daily serving us in so many ways. In short, our campus will remain closed through June 2, though the School Office will be manned Monday through Friday from 8:00 am until 3:30 pm, so please feel free to call if you need us 954-370-2161. We encourage all families to follow the social distancing guidelines set by the state, county and/or cities. If you have business to take care of in the office, please call us upon arrival before coming inside.

“Where flowers bloom, so does hope.” —Lady Bird Johnson “The mere whisper of the Holy Spirit can drown out the thundering noise of an entire world.” —David Jeremiah “In life, there are many promotions in spiritual growth, but there is no graduation.” —T.J. Bach

Violet The violet, a symbol of humility, is used most often to refer to the Virgin Mary, whom St. Bernard (1090-1153) described as “the violet of humility.” The purple flower also is sometimes used to express Christ’s humility in assuming human form.

A MUCH NEEDED UPDATE

For many months Rodger Burrows has been volunteering at our church and school as Maintenance Coordinator. He coordinates (schedules) service professionals coming to make repairs. (He has been known to do a lot of work himself too!) His current project is replacing the doors to the A/C handler in the back of our educational building. The doors had rotted and were allowing hot air into the handlers which caused the A/C units to use more energy. Rodger received estimates, got the approval from the Church Planning Council, acquired permits and now we have new doors that are secure and do not allow air to enter. We are looking forward to much lower FPL bills. Thank you Rodger for your hard work and perseverance in getting the jobs done!

DISTANCE LEARNING FOR OUR STUDENTS

3RD GRADE has been learning about simple machines. One of their assignments this week was to go on a scavenger hunt for simple machines at home. Some of the students even got creative and made their own simple machines out of things they found at home.

This week First Grade has been busy learning all about the Earth's landforms. Here are some models of mountains, valleys, lakes and volcanoes!

DISTANCE LEARNING FOR OUR STUDENTS

Dinosaur Week...What do you do when it

should have been DINOSAUR WEEK in your

kindergarten classroom? You deliver

dinosaur goodies to your students’ homes, of

course! The Dinosaur Drop-Off Days were a

success with Mrs. DePasquale, Mrs. Strubbe,

and Mrs. Natale. It was so much fun seeing

those sweet students that all of us at OSL

love and miss so much! A special thanks

goes out to our favorite dinosaur for tagging

along.

Here are some ways to give your offerings…

Send a Text to 954-280-1671 In the message box put the amount you would like to give (no dollar sign) and send. You will get a message with the secure link to Vanco for your information.

Search for iOS/Android App “GivePlus Church” Go online www.oslplantation.church

At the bottom of the home page click on "Giving" in the red banner. This will direct you to Vanco for Simply Giving.

The church office will be closed during

the mandatory stay at home order by

our governor. We will however be

working from home. Please leave a

message if you call the office and we will

retrieve messages daily.

Dial: (872) 240-3212 When prompted enter code: 185-049-773# If asked for an audio number enter: # If you have any problems just hang up and try again.

Mission Quilts

During my social isolation, I started digging into my fabric stash and began sewing quilt squares. I even found large lengths of fabric to sew together for quilt backs. Imagine my joy when I found that Lutheran World Relief collects and distributes quilts! Now, I am inviting all my sewing friends to dig into their scrap boxes and piece together 21" squares. LWR asks that we use sturdy fabrics and 1/2" seams. Due to import restrictions in some countries, no patriotic or religious prints are to be used. Other than that, it is up to you to design your own 21" squares. Once we are permitted to gather together again, we'll collect all the squares and assemble them into quilt tops. We will also need your old blankets or mattress pads to use as filler. Please keep us in mind as you sort through your closets over the next few weeks. Any questions, call or text Cheryl Moore at 954-562-1695.

TRUST THE ARTIST We must offer ourselves to God like a clean, smooth canvas and not worry ourselves about what God may choose to paint on it, but at each moment, feel only the stroke of his brush. … It is the same with a piece of stone. Each blow from the sculptor’s chisel makes it feel … as if it were being destroyed. … All I know is that I must stay immobile in the hands of the sculptor. … I have no idea what he is doing … but I know his work is the best possible. —Jean Pierre de Caussade
