Lent is almost over but there is one more sacrifice we can all make – a few hours of our time to spend with Jesus by coming to Holy Week services and joining with Jesus in His last few hours of life... Please try to make the time...

HOLY THURSDAY We recall the day when Jesus gave us the gift of his Body and Blood

in the Eucharist and the sacrament of Priesthood to enable his Church to continue this great gift of his presence “until the end of time.”

Morning Prayer (“Tenebrae”) will be prayed at 9:00AM The Liturgy of the Lord’s Supper will be celebrated at 7:00PM

(including the Washing of the Feet of 12 parishioners and the Procession with the Blessed Sacrament

to the Repository which will remain open until 10:30pm)

GOOD FRIDAY This is the day on which we remember the events of Jesus’ Passion

and his death on the Cross by which he brought salvation for all the world. It is a day of fasting and abstaining from meat

as a sign of our gratitude for the great gift Jesus has given us: the possibility of new life. The events of this day sadden us, but we know there is more.

Morning Prayer will be prayed at 9:00AM The Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion will be celebrated at 3:00PM

(including the reading of the Passion, the presentation and veneration of the Cross and the reception of Holy Communion.)

The Ecumenical Stations of the Cross will begin at 6:30 PM at the Presbyterian Church. The procession of the cross will conclude at St. Stan’s.

HOLY SATURDAY This is our day of waiting, a day of both sadness and hope as believers sense the fact that

“there is something happening but we are not sure what it is.” We are still dealing with the sadness of yesterday’s events while also remembering Jesus’ promise that he would rise.

We wonder what this could mean, how it could happen…and we wait and keep hoping.

There are NO Confessions scheduled and NO 5:30PM Mass today Morning Prayer will be prayed at 9:00AM

Decorating the Church will begin at 10:00AM The Blessing of Easter Foods will take place at 1PM

The Liturgy of the Easter Vigil will begin at 8:00PM in the Hall (including the Lighting of the Easter Fire, the Readings of the Vigil, the Procession of the Easter Candle and the Easter Proclamation,

the Gloria and the Easter Gospel, the Blessing of Easter Water)

EASTER SUNDAY

This is the Day that the Lord has made, Let us rejoice and be glad in it! Today we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus from the dead at our

Masses at 8:15AM and 11:00AM

FAITH FORMATION NEWS

REMINDERS

March 27 & 28: No Classes

April 3 & 4: Classes resume

April 6-7: Confirmation Retreat

April 8: GIFT II

April 15: 7th & 8th Grade / Teen Club CROSSFFIT

ST. STANISLAUS TEEN CLUB & Jr. PTAF On Sunday, April 22nd the Teen Club will be celebrating Earth Day 2019. As a group they will be participating in Earth Day Activities here at St. Stanislaus. We are asking the parish to suggest some things that our group can do to help our Earth as well as our parish community. So put on your thinking caps and let us know what you ideas you come up with. You can call Andrea Tighe in the Parish Office to offer suggestions. The teen club will consider all suggestions and decide what activities they will take on. We will also be inviting other Parish Organizations to join us in our efforts. So put the date on your calendar and let’s make our Earth, community and parish a better place.

ACTION NEEDED – IN DEFENSE OF LIFE! In his recent Budget proposal, Governor Cuomo included a radical bill (S.7511) that would expand late-term abortions in New York State. The bill would eliminate New York’s ban on late-term abortions, allowing abortion for any reason in all nine months of pregnancy; empower non-doctors to perform abortions, and permit a baby born alive after an abortion to die of neglect and starvation. The enacted state budget requires three-way negotiation and must be finalized by April 1. The State Senate is our only hope to stop this tragedy. Please let your State Senator know that they must not allow the state budget to be used as a vehicle for expanding late-term abortion. For ease of communication in contacting your Senator, go to www.nyscatholic.org and click on “Take Action,” which will provide a message you can send directly to your Senator. If you prefer to call Republican Senator John Flanagan (Majority Leader), who will be part of the three-way negotiation, he can be reached at (631) 361-2154, and say: “I am calling because Governor Cuomo included a radical abortion expansion proposal (S.7511) in his budget bills. This proposal would eliminate virtually all limitations on abortion in New York State, particularly on late-term abortions. Please insist that these abortion provisions are removed from the final budget.”

RECONCILIATION MONDAY March 26

We hope you will avail yourself of this time to make your pre-Easter confession and receive the graces that flow from this beautiful sacrament. Whether you went to confession recently or not for a long time, this day can be a great experience for you. Please join us and please note that these will be the only confessions scheduled before Easter.

TIME FOR CONFESSIONS WILL BE 3-9pm IN ALL PARISHES OF OUR ARCHDIOCESE

DUTCHESS COUNTY PARISHES

HOLY THURSDAY PILGRIM VISITS TO SEVEN CATHOLIC CHURCHES

A Pilgrim Pamphlet Guide is available at the exits of the church for those who wish to participate in the venerable custom of ‘visiting seven churches’ on Holy Thursday, March 29. The evening Mass time at each church, location of the Altar of Repose, and closing time are listed in the pamphlet. Also included in the pamphlet are Pope Francis’ intentions for March 2018, and suggested verses to be prayed at each stop. Participants in the pilgrimage normally set out after attending the Mass of the Lord’s Supper at their home parish; they continue on the self – directed pilgrimage to visit six more Altars of Repose.

HOLY LAND COLLECTION – GOOD FRIDAY On Good Friday, a special collection is taken up in all parishes throughout the Catholic world to help support the Church in the Holy Land. The contributions of the Good Friday Collection help to sustain Catholic primary and secondary schools in the Holy Land, the Catholic University in Bethlehem, and a whole network of clinics and healthcare facilities in the Holy Land. Please be as generous as you can be to this year’s Good Friday Collection.

VOLUNTEERS FOR EASTER DECORATING If you are interested in helping with decorating for Easter, please call the parish office early this week. We will decorate after the Holy Saturday prayer service at about 10am. In addition, we need a few volunteers to water the plants for a few weeks. On another note, Father Jay is so grateful for those who have volunteered to make the Baptismal garments. He will call a meeting a few weeks after Easter.
