School News & Religious Education
The Week Ahead: March 24 & 27---No Religious Education for Grades 1-10 due to Spring Break. Be safe in your travels. Remember it is still Lent. What takes you closer to Jesus while you are on break from school and Religious Education?
Lenten Reflection: This Third Sunday of Lent is all about repentance. On Ash Wednesday, we heard the words, “Repent! And believe in the Gospel.” Lent is a time for us to repent, or turn our ways around. When we repent, we seek something we have forgotten and reorient ourselves to get back on track. Repentance requires the willingness and humility to recognize we have lost our way and to change. All of us have something for which we need to repent: a person we have wronged, a good we have neglected to do, a cruel or unkind word we have spoken. We have been less than lovely, less than faithful and less than gracious from time to time with others and with ourselves. And the call gently comes into the muddled space of discord, with a voice that tells us to simply turn around. Now is the time. Repent! And believe in the Gospel.
Looking Ahead: March 31---Confirmation session at 6:15pm
March 31 & April 3---In Home Religious Education week.

SMCS Board of Trustees Looking to share your skills? Consider joining the SMCS Board of Trustees (BOT). The BOT helps to enhance SMCS with leadership, guidance, decision-making, financial support and public relations. Each year we look for individuals with business, marketing, legal, human resources or financial backgrounds; but most importantly you must be ready to help our Catholic schools grow. We are seeking Catholic individuals who are alumni, parents, parish members or anyone with a connection to our school system. Trustees are elected to one three-year term of office and may serve a subsequent term. Do you wish to be considered for the SMCS BOT? We are currently accepting candidates for consideration. Please contact Paul Seveska at [email protected] if you are interested.
† The World’s Poor Collection †
NEXT WEEK is the collection for the Wor ld’s Poor. This collection provides each of us with an opportunity to change lives for over 1.3 billion people living in poverty in this country and abroad. The four agencies represented in this collection are official church agencies that work to help the poor and displaced. You will have a choice to contribute to any one or all.
Catholic Relief Services suppor ts six Catholic agencies as they provide food to the hungry, suppor t to displaced refugees, and advocate for peace and justice. 25% of this collection remains in our Diocese to fight local poverty. Please answer your call to help Jesus in disguise. The Campaign for Human Development suppor ts programs to empower people to address the obstacles they face as they work to lift themselves out of poverty. Your support of this collection, gives people a hand up not a hand out. They address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those who struggle across the country. 25% of this collection remains in our Diocese to support local anti-poverty efforts. Peter’s Pence suppor ts the char itable works of Pope Francis by r eaching out to the marginalized and suffer ing around the wor ld. Their initiatives provide the Holy Father with the financial means to respond to those who are suffering as a result of war, oppression, natural disaster, and disease. Pastoral Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa helps people across Africa grow close to Jesus Christ and the Church. This fund supports pastoral projects to strengthen communities, their faith and foster lasting peace and reconciliation in a continent often marked by division and tension.
There is an envelope in this weekend’s bulletin for you to use for next weekend’s collection. You may also give online on our website smmneenah.org. Please prayerfully consider contributing to this collection to assist those living in poverty, both locally and globally.
