Hello to all our Carers and potential new carers, and welcome to March 2019. This month we will be doing something different than what we normally do. We are participating in a three legged challenge. This event is to raise funds to en- able carers to have a bit of a break from your caring role and recharge yourselves. We will be holding a sausage sizzle at the front of Woolies whilst being tied to another person, hence the three leg challenge. Donations can be made and the details are on page three of this issue. So come out and support the challenge. The past few months has been a very busy time for staff at our head of- fice in Adelaide preparing and formulating grant applications for the up- coming Integrated Carer support services that the Government is mov- ing towards. In an attempt to give our carers across the state information and general knowledge about the coming changes that is associated with the Inte- grated Carer Support Services, our President, Chief Executive officer and other staff from head office will be attending forums that have been planned for all regions. This will provide carers with the opportunity to be informed and ask questions regarding the Integrated Carer Support Services. The date for the forum is Tuesday 2nd April 2019 and will be held at the Standpipe Motor Inn. I would strongly advise you to make an attempt to attend the forum as this will be to your benefit and future direction. We hope to see you all over the coming months, and as always if you need to have answers to something that your not sure of please ring the office on 86411844. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Carers For all bookings phone the Northern Country Region office on 8641 1844

Hello to all our Carers and welcome to our new carers. Well March is here and so is Autumn but the month is still going to be hot. March is a busy month with public holidays (for Adelaide Cup), Clare Retreat, groups and other events. The biggest one of all is there is only 1 month left before daylight saving ends. Combined Aboriginal Carers Retreat with other Aboriginal carers from around the State, is being held this month in Clare. Numbers for this retreat are limited but if you are interested, please let me know and I will add your details to the expression of interest. The Aboriginal Reference Group (ARG) is also being held month and we are still looking for new members. The Aboriginal Reference Group is a group consisting of local representative Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander carers and local providers of Aboriginal services who meet together on a quarterly basis to discuss matters affecting Aboriginal carers in the regional area. They give advice to Carers SA and other Aboriginal service providers about matters affecting Aboriginal carers throughout the region and to discuss current Aboriginal services and service gaps and brainstorm ideas to address the gaps. If you are interested in being involved with this group, please give me a call on 8641 1844 or pop into the office to have a chat. March is also the month that all staff travel to Adelaide for Staff development. Please see office closure dates on page 3 for details. Groups and events have been arranged for all the region and if you can make it I would love to see you there, but please remember if you wish to attend any of the events or carer groups, remember to register your interest with the office for catering purposes. Cheers Di Aboriginal Project Worker.
