W.C. Allen Candy Company used a REO Speed Wagon to deliver their products in Portland.
Interesting and unusual postcards can make postcard collecting a very fun
and fulfilling activity. The collecting experience is enhanced by the diversity
and varying subjects that can be found on postcards. Knowing what types of
cards can be found can help the postcard collector find enjoyment when they
find cards that do their own talking. Postcards can give us the who, what,
when and why of a particular topic or subject.
Some of my favorite topics for postcards include transportation. Vehicles used
for advertising a business are particularly appealing.

Northwest Auto Company also used a REO Speed Wagon to deliver their products.
Tom Moore sold high grade cigars in Portland.

Palace Laundry at East 10th and Everett streets had several smart-looking trucks.

A driver for the Ira F. Powers Furniture Company made deliveries on a snowy day.
William DeVeny, who was Buffalo Bill’s double, was a childhood friend of Buffalo Bill Cody. He was born in Nebraska in 1843 and moved to Portland in 1861. He filled in for Buffalo Bill on some of his western engagements. A Buffalo Bill buggy with a matched team like the one used in the show was secretly kept in Portland for such events.
