President’s Message
Welcome to the 173rd edition of the Perth Fair!
This year as always there will be a full range of events at the fair, something for everyone to enjoy, both old
favourites and new events as well. There will be lots of mechanical power with our annual Truck Pull, Demo
Derby, Lawn Mower Races, Tractor Pull and Lawn Mower Pull. All of the equine grace and power in the
Heavy Horse and Saddle and Harness Show rings, speed and agility in the Western Games ring and of course a
great time at the Family Fun Horse Show! Make sure to check out the Cattle Barn, we have a full weekend
schedule of Goat, Beef and Dairy Shows, including our local 4-H Beef Club having their achievement
day! The Fantasy Farm will welcome you with lots of furry and feathered friends to make and the Ag-Tent
will be bustling with educational exhibits, children's entertainment and demonstrations. I look forward to wan-
dering through the Homecraft Building to see all of the sewing and handy crafts, flowers, bottled goods and
woodcrafts and see how all of the exhibitors get creative to display this years Homecraft theme "Teddy Bears’
Picnic". WoofJocks Canine All Stars are coming back again this year, they were definitely a fan favorite last
years with their skill and antics. Make sure you stop by and catch at least one of their shows this year! Our
midway partner, Robertson Amusements will be back again with rides and games for everyone's enjoyment
and of course there will be plenty of vendors to browse and amazing food to eat.
There have been many changes over the last year and many more to come as we continue our tradition of ex-
cellence to provide an annual showcase of agriculture and rural living. As always I have to send out a huge
thank you to all of our amazing and dedicated Board Members, Volunteers and our Fair Secretary. The Perth
Fair fills the four days of Labour Day Weekend with fun and festivities, but the work to make those four days
happen fills the rest of the year. Without our volunteers it wouldn't be possible to have a fair, so a very heart
felt thank you to all of you for all the hours you give. I am proud to be able to work along side these people
and be a small part of helping to make the fair happen.
So please, make your entries and then come to the fair and enjoy a weekend to celebrate agriculture, rural liv-
ing and tradition at Perth Fair!

fully.

tained from all awards for the following year. As well, in
classes where an advance entry fee was not collected, 15% will
be deducted from prize money in general classes, 20% in cattle
& in steer classes, 20% in goats. There is no entry fee for
Juniors in Junior Poul try and Classes 401 - 802.

list, unless otherwise specified by the fair office. If you require
further space photocopies of entry form or a blank sheet with all
required information is allowed. The forms are to be filled in
and signed by the exhibitor, with full mailing address plus entry
fees where required.
3. Entry forms in all Classes should be in the office no later then August 25, 2018 unless otherwise stated. Enter online at
www.assistexpo.ca/perthfair. They may be mailed, emailed or
faxed or dropped off.
4. Post entries may be accepted by the Committee in charge of
show. They will not be accepted by office staff after August 25,
2018. A late entry charge may be added.
5. On the entry of each article in general classes a tag will be
furnished for the exhibitor specifying the class, section and a
description of the section. The tag must remain attached to the
article during the exhibition.
6. In livestock classes, the entry in every instance must be
made in the name of the BONAFIDE OWNER.
7. In all other classes, entries must be made in the name of the
producers or manufacturers only and by such producers they in
person or their agents duly authorized. Any person making
entries as an agent for more than one producer or manufacturer
must pay a subscription of $5.00 for each of such parties. If any
person will enter an article for exhibition as produced or manu-
factured by himself, when it has not really been so, he will for-feit any premium which may be awarded to the article, and
may be excluded from exhibiting in the future. The Directors
may, before the payment of any premium award, require the
exhibitors to file with the treasurer, a statutory declaration that
he or she is the actual manufacturer or producer of the article
exhibited, and if grain or seeds, that they were grown this year.
8. No person will be allowed to enter for competition more

until 4:30 p.m. of the day they are exhibited. All exhibits must
be left in the building until 4:00 p.m. of the closing day of the
Fair. If removed earlier, the exhibitor forfeits all prize money
earned.
12. No person will be allowed to interfere with the judges, while in the discharge of their duty. Exhibitors so interfering
will forfeit their right to any premiums to which they may
otherwise be entitled.
13. The Judge will be empowered to withhold any prize
where, in his or her opinion, the exhibit is not of sufficient
merit.
14. The Directors reserve the right to retain a percentage of all
premiums or awards payable, sufficient to safeguard the Soci-
ety from any loss.
15. Prize money will not be paid until at least 14 days after the exhibition, to give the Directors time to settle any dis-
pute which may arise and finally sanction payments of
awards.
16. While the Directors will take every possible precaution
under the circumstance to ensure the safety of articles sent to
the Exhibition, they wish it be distinctly understood that the
owners themselves must take the risk of exhibiting them and
that should an article be accidentally injured, lost or stolen,
the Directors will give all the assistance in their power toward
the recovery of the same but will not make any payment for
the value thereof.
17. No prize will be paid unless entry appears on the entry
sheet, specials included.
18. Protests must be made in writing within 48 hours of the
Fair closing and must give definitely and concisely the ground
of the protest. The Directors will decide in all cases and their
decision will be final. Any party making protest must de-
posit $25.00 with the secretary, as a guarantee of good faith
which will only be refunded to him or her upon proving his or
her protest.
19. Any person fraudulently obtaining prizes in any way
from the Society will forfeit all prizes awarded them at the exhi-
bition.
20. Any person or Exhibitor who will interfere with the
Judges or Directors while performing their duties or use con-
temptuous or abusive language to any of the Directors or Judges in consequence of any award made to him, her or them,
will forfeit his or her rights to any premiums to which he or
she would be entitled. They may be prohibited from the exhi-
bition for one year or more. This also applies to damage of
Society property.
21. All show animals are expected to parade whenever so
ordered by the Directors. Failure to comply could result in
forfeiture of prize money.
22. All exhibitors of livestock must furnish proof of current
liability coverage with their entries. Without such proof hav-
ing been received in advance by the secretary’s office or
show secretary, entries cannot be brought onto the fair-
grounds.
23. All prize money cheques must be cashed before January 31, 2019.
24. The Directors may prohibit and prevent a theatrical, cir-
cus or acrobatic performance, exhibitions or shows and may
also regulate or prevent huckstering or trafficking in fruits,
goods, wares or merchandise on the grounds or within three
hundred yards thereof on the days of an exhibition and any
person who after notice of such rules and regulations, violates
any provision thereof, will be liable to the penalties provided
