Members Making WavesJohn Knox Village Hires New CFOAfter conducting a nationwide executive search John Knox Village has hired Richard Kim Klockenga as chief financial officer. A seasoned continuing care facility executive with nearly 15 years of senior healthcare leadership experience, Klockenga will assume his new duties at John Knox Village on April 30.

“Kim not only brings a proven track record for enhancing profit and revenue

growth, but he also has an intimate understanding of the continuing care environment,” said Daniel Rexroth, chief executive officer, John Knox Village. “We’re confident in his ability to ensure the long-term financial strength of John Knox Village.”

Prior to joining John Knox Village, Klockenga was vice president and CFO of Friendship Village of Schaumberg in Schaumberg, Ill., where he led the financial and information technology functions for the organization’s parent facility and four subsidiaries. He also served as vice president and CFO of Woodstock Christian Life Services in Woodstock, Ill.

“John Knox Village was seeking an accomplished financial leader with a ‘big picture’ perspective, an operational focus and finely honed strategic planning skills. Kim was a perfect fit,” according to Dr. Kathy Noland, vice president of senior executive search for B. E. Smith, the leadership solutions firm that conducted the nationwide CFO search for John Knox Village.

Klockenga earned a master’s degree in business administration at Lake Forest Graduate University in Schaumberg and a bachelor’s degree in accounting at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio.

Arvest Bank Expands Footprint in Kansas City Metro Area

Arvest Bank recently announced that it signed an agreement to acquire nearly all the assets and liabilities of Union Bank.

The acquisition will double Arvest’s assets and branches in the Kansas City area.

“This was a way for us to expand our footprint,” Mark Larrabee, Arvest president and CEO in Kansas City, said in an interview. “We have a couple branches in

Missouri, in Downtown and in Lee’s Summit, and this was a great way to expand our presence on the Missouri side.”

12 Reasons to be a St. Bernard

European traders seeking a dog company to help them cross the Alps in treacherous weather will probably choose St. Bernard LLC because they’ve specialized in that since the 1700s. Did you know most specialist companies outperform generalist competitors? They gain higher margins, can compete in a wider geography, have simpler elevator speeches and market more cost effectively. During this seminar Paul Welsh will share

12 strategies how to become the St. Bernard in your industry.

Register for this free seminar online at lschamber.com under the Calendar of Events tab.

Member-to-Member Testimonials“Through the Chamber I have gotten to know Carolyn McKnight with the University of Central Missouri Summit Center very well. As a result of our contact we have initiated several UCM-MCC partnerships that are mutually beneficial to our organizations and our students. We have even taken the unprecedented step of jointly advertising our dual admissions program for MCC Students planning to complete a four year degree at UCM. We think this is a good example of collaboration to improve opportunities for area residents.”
