MARCH 10th
2016 SCHOOL COUNCIL
This year we had five parent member vacancies on School Council. After
the nomination period ended last Monday we filled all 5 parent places. It
is with pleasure that I announce the following successful School Council
parent members for 2016/2017 - Helen Clark, Leah Davidson, Karyn
Mitchell, Marquita Telford and Sasha Kober. It is an exciting time to be
a member on School Council with upgrade works commencing mid-year
and continuing for 12+ months. On behalf of the school community I
congratulate these parents and thank them for their nomination. The
next School Council meeting is on Monday 21st March commencing at
7:30pm following sub-committee meetings at 7:00pm.
EASTER RAFFLE
The PFA are once again are conducting our annual Easter Raffle which
will be drawn on the last day of term – Thursday 24th March. Thankyou
to families who have already donated Easter Eggs and sold raffle tick-
ets! Additional raffle books are available from the office. A very special
thankyou to Vanessa Stewart and Lisa Rule who are once again coordi-
nating this raffle. Going by the number of eggs we have received there
will be several prizes. Last year there were nearly 20 baskets of eggs
collected for our raffle – great odds from just one raffle ticket!
KNOX RELAY FOR LIFE 2016
This wonderful event starts on Saturday March 19th at 4:00pm through
to 9:00am on Sunday March 20th at the Knox Park Athletic Track
Knoxfield on the corner of Scoresby Road & Ferntree Gully Road. This is
a fantastic Knox community event that raises money to support those
within the Knox community who are impacted by cancer. Your support, at
any level, will be greatly appreciated and you will have the knowledge
that you have been a part of Knox Relay for Life 2016 and its practical
support of the work of Cancer Vic within Knox.
Our school staff and friends have entered a team in this event so if you
have time, pop down and give them some support – I know they would
appreciate some company as they circle the track. In fact they are
looking for more team members so if any parents would like to join them
please contact Kayrn Mitchell via the office.

PRINCIPAL’S NEWS
GREAT FEEDBACK
Over the last two weeks we have had a number of excursions where the teachers have reported pos-
itively on the behaviour of their students in public. Added to that is the praise we recently received
from a McKenzie bus driver who said that all their drivers look forward to jobs that involved our
school as the children are always well behaved. Congratulations children – we are all very proud of
you!
A SHORT WEEK APPROACHES
A reminder to parents that Labour Day is on Monday 14th March and in that same week we have
organised a Pupil Free Curriculum Day on Friday 18th March.
PREP ENROLMENTS
School tours with parents of 2017 Prep students have commenced. As I tour nearly all these parents
comment on hearing great things about our school in the local community, which is a fantastic. If you
have a little one starting next year could I ask you to pick up an enrolment form at the office? Also
if you know of someone in the local area who has a little one starting school in 2017 could you en-
courage them to call for a tour and /or collect an enrolment form from the office.
TWILIGHT SPORTS
In last week’s newsletter article about our Twilight Sports I made a mistake about the starting time.
Our Annual Twilight Sports is scheduled for Wednesday 23rd March. Mr Goldie would like the chil-
dren to arrive and be assembled on the oval by 4:50pm with events starting at 5:00pm and continu-
ing until 6:30pm. We would like a hand to pack all the equipment away at the end of the night –
many hands make light work!
END OF TERM
An early reminder for parents that Term 1 ends on Thursday 24th March with Good Friday on the
25th March. Children will be dismissed at 2:30pm following a special assembly commencing at 2:00pm
for the purpose of drawing the Easter Raffle. The second term commences on Monday 11th April.
