MEOS Q2 2016 Summary

• Despite economic headwinds, crashing oil prices and stock market turmoil, this is the most optimistic first half-year jobs outlook in a decade

• Upbeat start driven by positive hiring intentions across every region, and stable hiring intentions across most sectors

• Consumer retail hiring intentions hit their highest level since 2007.

• In contrast, Utilities hiring intentions continue to slump. Although up one point to +4, the sector is down thirteen points YoY. The first half of 2016 have been the least optimistic six months for the sector in 11 years

• Construction is on the rise: Construction bounced up six points to +5 after slipping into negative territory last quarter
