Hulash has to distribute 66 gulabj amun, 121 Rasgullah & and 143 laddoos among his friends. He

wants each friend to get an equal number of items of one type only, and he is looking for the maximum

items that can be given to each friend. How many friends does he

have?


Solution

• Let us find the HCF of 66, 121 and 143 – this gives us 11. Thus Hulash can give 11 pieces of a sweet to any of his friend. Suppose he gives 11 ladoos to Rajesh, he may give 11 Gulabjamun to BM and so on. Thus let us find his total friends:

• 66/11 + 121/11 + 143/11 = 30 answer.


3 bicycles are fitted with wheels that can make 6,5 and 10 revolutions per minute respectively. One spoke on

each wheel is painted blue. All three bicycles start moving at the same time, and the spoke of the wheels

painted blue is in the same position for all 3 bicycles. After how much time will all the three wheels be

aligned In the same manner as they were at the start?


Solution

• Let us find the time of each spoke in completing one revolution

• 1st spoke 60 / 6 = 10 seconds• 2nd spoke 60/5 = 12 seconds

• 3nd spoke 60/10 = 6 seconds

• Now find LCM of 10,12, 6 seconds. LCM is 60 answer = 1minute.


A and B working separately can do a piece of work in 9 and 12 days

respectively. If they work for a day alternately, A beginning, in how

many days, the work will be completed?

• 5/9 + 5/12 = 105/108. Thus after 10 days the work left is 3/108,which will be done by A. 9 *3/108 is equal to ¼.

Question on reasoning • Coach John sat with the score cards of Indian players

from the 3 games in a one-day cricket tournament where the same set of players played for India and all the major batsmen got out. John summarized the batting performance through three diagrams, one for each games. In each diagram, the three outer triangles communicate the number of runs scored by the three top scores from India, where K, R, S, V, and Y represent Kaif, Rahul, Saurav, Virender, and Yuvraj respectively. The middle triangle in each diagram denotes the percentage of total score that was scored by the top three Indian scorers in that game. No two players score the same number of runs in the same game. John also calculated two batting indices for each player based on his scores in the tournaments; the R-index of a batsman is the difference between his highest and lowest scores in the 3 games while the M-index is the middle number, if his scores are arranged in a non-increasing order.

We know that Spain had won the match, however, if Spain won by 1-0, all teams are equal, if spain won by 2-0, then Spain will be the winner. Answer.

Toffees are bought at the rate of 8 for a rupee. To gain 60%, they must
