2017: A Year in Review
What did we learn? 1) Weed resistance and pressure is as high as it’s ever been 2) Glyphosate is not enough3) Dicamba isn’t a perfect solution

Cost of Resistance
6
• “In soybeans, we estimate it now costs $35 per acre for herbicides above what growers would have spent with Roundup. That’s $56 million in additional herbicide costs. Increased herbicide application costs add another $8 million. With a 17 percent yield loss for average 35-acre soybeans, that’s another $40 million. That’s a loss of $104 million for soybeans alone, and that’s a conservative estimate.” Dr. Larry Steckel - Associate Professor at the University of Tennessee1
• Herbicide resistance costs farmers $20 to $60 or more per acre, according to a 2016 study by USDA’s Economic Research Service

Shared Risk Program
The 2018 Bayer Shared Risk™ Program protects your investment from planting to harvest by including trait and input cost protection when an Act of God forces replant, causes crop loss, or dryland yield falls within specified ranges. Bayer’s goal is to provide risk protection to cotton growers who plan for success by investing in high-quality seed and traits and using Best Management Practices.
