Small change,big savingsBased on the findings of a recent print audit,

we made a few suggestions to a company

which resulted in big cost savings. For example,

an employee, printing 500 sheets per week, was

using an inkjet printer on his desk. It was costing

the business £975 per quarter. We recommended

replacing the inkjet with a networked laser device,

which would reduce the cost to £318 per quarter.

This small change meant a saving of more than

Anticipating your needsOne of our clients, who runs their business 24/7, started

doing much higher volumes than usual. We knew about

it straight away because we can remotely manage our

devices. We know when routine maintenance is due

or when there is only 20% of your toner left. We were

on to it straight away. A quick call to the client and

extra toner stocks were delivered so they could

work through the night.

First thing on a Friday morning, our remote management

software alerted us that a device had an unusual fault.

The engineer called ahead to the City client and

discovered that a cup of coffee had been spilled

down the back of the machine. He asked the client to

disconnect the device for safety reasons and advised him

that there was no chance of fixing the machine that day.

Our local service manager immediately phoned the

client and, after a brief discussion to check the urgency

of the situation, a loan machine was sent from our

warehouse, installed and fully networked within

three hours. The client was able to finish the

outstanding print jobs before the weekend.

Optimising fleet efficiencyOur Service Manager recently called on one of our clients to review our service standards. He presented a fullreport covering all activity for the period. The client could see from the data that three of the devices were doing higher volumes than expected, while one device was hardly doing any volume at all. They discussed rebalancing the fleet so that the loads were even and remedial action was agreed. The client was also very satisfied that all service targets had been met.

Going that extra mileOne of our larger clients called us in recently

to discuss upgrading some of their equipment

supplied by another provider. During the

meeting, we were told that on one of the

floors, some of this equipment was out of

service and that most of the print and copy

work was being routed through a multi-

a lower floor. In view of their predicament

and to give the client time to consider their

options going forward, we suggested providing

them with a loan device. A quick call to the

Measuring print and copy carbon emissionsOne of our clients, an educational institution, was

looking to upgrade their equipment and purchase

software which enabled them to charge back copy

and print costs to students. They liked our environmental

policy and how we select suppliers based on their green

credentials. When choosing the software, a big attraction

was the option to produce environmental impact

reports. These let the college keep track of their carbon

emissions, and can even be shown as the amount

of trees or electricity used.
