President Ronald Reagan said, “Of the many influences that have shaped the United States of America into a distinctive nation and people, none may be said to be more fundamental and enduring than the Bible.” Psalms 11:3 & 7 say, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness, his countenance doth behold the upright.” The time has come for us to do three things that God has promised He would honor: pray and fast, personally repent, and persevere in witnessing. On the practical side, each Christian citizen should prayerfully vote. There has been a great price paid so we could vote in our system of representative government. In the present election there is a choice between a constitutional America based on law or a progressive America based on political correctness. President Woodrow Wilson, 28 th President, 1913-1921, was the leading force in the Progressive Movement. The Bible and its laws were the foundation on which the US Constitution was written. Since much of our society and in particular the educational system has taught without the foundation of God’s laws, our society is seeing chaos. The result is we are seeing a land based on what each man wants for himself. We are seeing the results and chaos daily in the news. Many are basing their life on racism rather than on God’s laws and grace. Once we leave out God any argument can be made to justify our actions.
In this election, the choice of the arguments being made is for the acceleration of America’s progressive betrayal or a return to our foundations. I believe the Republican platform by far represents traditional values of the Bible including the right to life. Luke 5:47, Ephesians 2:18, and I Corinthians 3:10 states we need to build our lives and society on the foundation of God’s Word and the master builder Jesus Christ. The hope of America is not in our leadership in Washington DC. It is found in our local churches. We have begun to lose our culture, but we must not lose our country! Jesus said, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16). Each believer should work to have the best reputation for hard work, honesty, and integrity. Our temperament and speech should reflect Jesus Christ. These actions will open the door for witnessing to many around us. Promoting a testimony for Christ and sharing what God has done for us is a command from Scripture.

and invite friends!
One of the great blessings of being part of a local church that is reaching people with the gospel is the combined efforts that result in fruit. One plants, one waters, and God gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6). It is, of course, a joy to be part of any of those stages, knowing that all make a difference. And yet, there is a correlating danger to this blessing—that we would get caught up in being part of a group that is seeing fruit, without investing personal effort or caring to see personal fruit. It’s exciting to be part of what others are doing, but I believe God is pleased when we pray with old time preacher and missionary, John Hyde, “God, give me souls, else I die!” It glorifies God when we bear fruit that remains (John 15:8, 16). So, do participate in your church’s outreach and any special Sundays, knowing that every person who serves in any way has part in the resulting fruit. But also ask the Lord to let you see personal fruit. Determine that you do not only want to be part of a group, but that you want to personally share the gospel with the lost. What can you do to see a personal harvest of souls?
1. Set goals. You’ve heard it said: “He who aims at nothing, hits it every time.” My outreach goals are primarily centered on a number of doors in
the community to knock and people to personally share the gospel with. I don’t ordinarily set goals of numbers saved, simply because I know it is God who gives the increase. I can tell you, though, that He gives more increase when I plant more seeds. So set measurable goals for sowing gospel seeds.
2. Look everywhere for prospects. See every contact you make as a soulwinning contact. You don’t have to force conversations, but you should be praying and looking for opportunities to share the gospel. And, if you carry gospel tracts, you’ll often have an easier time starting a conversation.
3. Go into the community. No advertising, social media campaigns, or mailers can replace a man or woman in the power of the Holy Spirit going door to door in the community witnessing for Christ. At Lancaster Baptist Church, we do advertise, use social media, and send mailers, but the majority of people in our church today were reached through door-to-door soulwinning and the faithful witness of friends and family members.
4. Keep a spirit of faith. I love the words of the Apostle Paul in Acts 20:23: “Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city….” Everywhere Paul went, he suffered, simply for preaching the gospel. What gave him the courage to go on was faith that the Holy Spirit was witnessing in every city. We know that technically we are not the real soulwinners—the Holy Spirit is. Remembering and believing that He is using your witness will give you boldness to speak and have the faith to continue.
5. Follow up with every prospect. Be diligent in recording the names and contact information of those who have shown interest in the gospel or church. Be faithful to pray for them and to follow up with a note, call, or visit weekly. This kind of follow up is often where you will see the greatest fruit.
Do you desire a personal harvest of souls this fall? That desire is a great place to start. From there, believe the Holy Spirit is witnessing, share the gospel faithfully, and steward every contact that God gives you. The fall is a great season for many activities—but above all else, ask the Lord to let it be a season for you of a personal harvest.

Pumpkin Lollipops
These yummy Pumpkin Lollipops are a creative edible craft for the fall season, they also work
great as party favors!
Here's what you'll need... •Orange and green lifesavers (7 orange and 1 green for each lollipop) •Popsicle stick •Tin Foil •Baking Sheet •Oven
Here's how you make them... 1. Line your baking sheet with a piece of tin foil. Place your popsicle
stick on the foil. Place 2 orange lifesavers directly on top of the stick - at one end of the stick (see picture)
2. Arrange the rest of your orange lifesavers around in circle. Break your green lifesaver in half and place at the top of your pumpkin. Make sure all of your lifesavers are touching, otherwise they won't melt together properly.
3. Bake in the oven at 250F for 12-14 minutes or until the lifesavers have melted. All ovens are different, keep checking your lollipops while they're baking!

Bellwood, PA native Connie Tyree came to NJ when she was 5 years old and grew up in a Bible-believing Christian family in Vineland.
She trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was scripturally baptized at the age of ten in March, 1960. Connie is
grateful for her family, her Pastor, Sunday school teachers, and other church members, “all who demonstrated the love of Christ and
brought joy to others by their faithfulness.” Her mother also exemplified praying in faith and her father taught young Connie valuable
lessons about biblical stewardship. She received her BS in Nursing from Trenton State College in 1972, and in 1990, her Masters from
Saint Joseph’s in Philadelphia. After a brief stint at Newcomb Hospital, Connie spent 38 years as a nurse and educator at Shore Memorial
Hospital in Somers Point. It was at Shore Memorial, in 2000, that she met Kentucky native Jim Tyree, who was working in respiratory care
there. Jim, an Atlantic Cape Community College graduate, had received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior when he was
sixteen in 1961, at an independent Baptist church in Cincinnati, Ohio, where his family (including ten other brothers and sisters!) had
moved. He also followed the Lord in obedience to scriptural baptism at that same Baptist church. On January 6, 2001, a year after their
meeting, Jim and Connie were married, merging a family of adult children and grandchildren. They began attending Mainland Baptist
Church in June of this year after their son Tony called them asking if they “could help him get a new start in life.” Jim and Connie
immediately brought him to the RU Recovery Program that meets on Friday evenings at 7 PM. They also began attending the services as
well, “the warm, friendly, loving embrace of this church, which puts the Great Commission into action,
drew us all in.” They testify that “our son felt no condemnation here, just love and compassion; that love
changed his life.” Tony is currently “learning to walk with Christ” at the Better Roads Recovery Home in Ham-
mond, IN. Jim and Connie continue to participate in RU, which “has given us the tools to really meditate on
God’s Word.” The Tyree’s, whose granddaughter Kayla also attends church with them, became members of
Mainland Baptist on September 25, and are looking forward to serving the Lord together here.
