Main Task Initial Ideas

Aim & Purpose
My aim and purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate my ideas to you (my potential target audience) for a future
music magazine that I am creating. I will take in consideration each of your ideas to help me develop and
find an overall idea and preference of what you would and wouldn’t like in the magazine.
Each of my ideas are created based on the target audience in order to create a sufficient and interesting magazine.
Your opinion on the ideas matter.
Idea 1Genre: Hip-hop/ R&BTarget Audience: Age range – 16-25 years Gender – All Lifestyle – Internet bloggers (familiar or interested in social networks e.g. Tumblr,
Twitter etc.), outgoing (enjoy events, parties, socializing…), like to be different ‘original’ ‘unique’…
House Style: Colour scheme – Fonts – Futura
- Teletype Language type – Formal, some elements informal (using technical lexis suiting the
target audience). Layout and design – Spaced out, presented tidy and neat, almost equal ratio of
text:images
Features: New album review (e.g. artist similar to Frank Ocean) Behind the scenes of photo shoot (with artists similar to Odd Future). A day in the life of… (e.g. Kendrick Lamar) Wardrobe of… Interview with… (e.g. A$AP Rocky) Introducing new artists
Images to include: Front Cover: Artist photograph who is included with the main feature (becomes main image). Small photographs that supports other features mentioned on front cover.
Contents: Images to support some of the page titles Large image of another photo from the same shoot as cover photo
Double page spread: Photographs of the artists being mentioned with article – must include at least one full
body shot and close-up of the artist. Some polaroid, low quality shots – if double page on artists everyday life.
Idea 2Genre: DubstepTarget Audience: Age range – 17-26 years Gender – Male Lifestyle – Outgoing, enjoy raves and partiesHouse Style: Colour scheme – Fonts – Language type – Sarcastic, crude, technical lexis e.g. ‘filthy dubstep’ Layout and design – Busy and clashed.
