Winchester’s Build a Better Block event was a huge success! I am particularly fond of the crosswalk done by high school students and the fire that was to keep folks warm became a makeshift bar. I love how the community made it their own! Director Rachel Alexander is pictured above checking out that cool bike. Many people thought it was an actual store and not just a pop up!

The art gallery also included demonstrations.

Salyersville’s Main Street held a Ghost Walk October 26th and art in their community.

Actors dressed to portray those that were dearly departed. Magoffin County High School Art

Class helped with the props and decorations. We also invited them to showcase their art-

work. The Walk was done in partnership with the Magoffin County High School Beta

Club. Mainstreet provided the supplies and the students prepared all the food, assisted with

the crafts and produced and acted out the scenes for the walk. What a great partnership and

a great way to involve young people.

Last week I traveled to Lynch, Benham, and Cumberland better know there as the Tri-Cities to meet with director Bobbie Gothard and the board. They will be named a KY Trail Town next Monday! I loved all their painted bikes. They were everywhere and

I love Lynch, but one of my favorite

things is that even though this is the

mountains, the largest peak is located

there (Black Mountain) you have side-

walks on both sides of the street between

all of the communities! It is a very walka-

ble,/bikeable area.

Later in the day I met with the regional directors in that area which included, Denise Wainscott, Jacob Roan, Bobbie Gothard, Nannie Hays, and Molly Barnett. We had a great planning meeting.

Our next adventure took us to Owen County and the community of Ow-enton where we met with a few local business owners and the city manager. They are hoping to become one of our Network communities.
