Main Influences

Cabin in the woodsThe influence that the horror film ‘Cabin in the woods’ has on our film opening is the location that this film is set in. The location is a huge forest that has many tree’s and old and wrecked cabins. This is our inspiration because forests in the dark are very haunting and are a typical scenery for a horror film. Therefore this will allow our audience to immediately know that they are watching a horror film. This is because of the conations of forests being darkness, isolation and deserted.

The bottom right camera shot has influenced us with our choice of lighting as we are going to film in darkness so that the lighting will be pitch black and mysterious. This will allow us to set a unnerving mood and creates the audience to be anxious.

Lastly the bottom left camera shot is an establishing shot that we will incorporate in our film opening to establish where the action will take place and get the audience to be aware of the scenery.

Cabin in the WoodsThis horror film also influences our film opening through its logo. The logo contains very 3D bold writing which has a red and black background that has a smoke affect moving. The colors and movement of this logo was great help with ours and also links to the genre of horror we are doing. This logo is an example of a professional logo that is in the film industry. This will give us some ideas of how to craft and present our logo and give our film opening a professional touch.

Chucky The influence that the horror film ‘Chucky’ has on our film opening is the title of the horror film being named after the ginger doll. In our horror film opening we have been inspired by the name as we are having a female doll as the main character. Therefore we have created a pole and our final result was ‘Scarlett’ which will be the name of our doll and the title of our film opening.Also chucky is a unrealistic character which is a child's toy. We have taken this idea and created the doll called Scarlett who is a possessed human who has the behavior and appearance of a doll. This is because of her past childhood from when she was abused and she has now she has come back to haunt children who are living the child hood she couldn't’t live. In addition the appearance of ‘chucky’ will inspire us with the messy back combed hair and cute innocent face. This is something we will apply to our actress. However we are also adding a scar this is our own idea that links to the dolls name.

Insidious The influence that this horror film ‘insidious’ has on our film opening is that in the film there are dolls these dolls appear in the world that the dad goes into to rescue his son. These dolls are dressed in old Victorian dresses and there movement are very robotic and creepy. This influence comes under mise-en-scene. Therefore we are going to dress our main character of a doll in a dress with puffy sleeves which will be old fashioned and we are going to direct her movement which will be very robotic and sudden for suspense and will send shivers down the audiences spines. This will be very affective as its using a human being a toy doll. This will be very creepy as it will show a innocent toy become very evil and destructive.

The unborn

The influence that this horror film ‘The unborn’ has on our film opening is that the little boy who the protagonist who is the women baby sits says the line ‘Jumby can be born now’ this is said by whispering. This is very scary and wouldn't’t be as ghostly if it was shouted or said in a normal tone. This is inspiring our film opening as our protagonist who is the doll named ‘Scarlett’ will repeat a line or phrase in the film opening this will add to the unnerving mood and create the audience to fear even more.Also we are going to put a nursery rhyme that will either be played in the background or the doll will say this is our development idea from the line that is repeated in unborn that inspired us.
