1. Contact facility security manager, mangers on site, execuKve director/head of agency, and other management as needed.
2. Contact law enforcement and alert them of the problem.
3. Local law enforcement will call local government for fire and police department to deal with traffic and fire protecKon.
4. Law enforcement will dispatch Hazardous Materials Unit.
5. Facility manager will call FBI and postal inspector to alert them of item.
6. The item is state property at this facility and a chain of custody must be decided between law enforcement, FBI, and facility manager.

Process Sample Packages must be processed in the following manner: 1. Send item through the x-‐ray
machine and follow procedures on detecKon process including organic, non-‐organic, metal, and explosives detecKon.
2. Send item through Bio Sniffer and follow policy including chemical and biological detecKon.
3. If item passes both scans, then send to visual inspecKon.
4. If item passes all 3, send to sorKng unit for delivery.
5. If item fails any one of the above processes, follow emergency procedures.
Emergency Procedures:
1. If item fails any or all 3 procedures listed above, alert supervisor or manger.
2. It is then determined if further examinaKon is needed; place item in sealed glove box, re-‐exam on equipment, and determine ager safeguards are in place and no triggering devises are present, open item in box to get visual verificaKon.
3. If item is determined to be non-‐lethal, package is taped shut and sent to delivery unit.
4. If it is determined to be harmful or cannot be recognized, then the call down list should be acKvated as well as lockdown procedures started.
5. Employees in the building at that Kme must remain inside and all other employees may not enter facility unKl invesKgaKon is completed by the CBI Hazardous Materials Team and FBI.
