Project DetailsB.Tech Project
Project Title: Design of a car air conditioning system based on absorption refrigeration cycle using exhaust gas of an IC Engine
Technology: Pro-Engineer, Ansys
Summary: This project is in energy from the exhaust gas of an internal combustion engine is used to power an absorption refrigeration system to air-condition an ordinary passenger car. In this project a absorption refrigeration system is designed and parts of the refrigeration system are Analyzed, Modeling is carried out using Pro/Engineer and analysis using ANSYS
M.Tech Project
Project Title: Modeling and analysis of piston design for four stroke diesel engine.
Technology: Pro-Engineer, Hypermesh, Ansys
Summary: To increase life of the piston, it can be coated with different materials which can decreases the thermal and surface stresses. As temperature distribution is crucial parameter which influences the thermal stress and deformation of piston. These stresses are responsible for the determination of life expectancy of piston. Stress and deformation results of piston which is layered with aluminum, steel and cast iron are analyzed. These materials are layered on top of piston head with 3mm thickness each.
The work is carried out by modeling a piston of 5 BHP diesels engine using PRO/E and meshed using HYPERMESH. Then the analysis is carried out using ANSYS software packages. The results shows that the piston with cast iron layer is having 33% less von-mises stress when compared with other two coating materials. From this results obtained, we can finally conclude that the cast iron layer on piston head, increases piston life.
