Social Functions 2012 In an effort to encourage participation and engage more of our members we are asking for the respective sections of the club to take an active role in planning social functions in 2012. The following teams or sections of the club will each be responsible for the organisation of one night with the assistance of the committee-

• Premier League/Metro 1 Women • Premier League/Metro 1 Men • Metro 2-6 Men • Metro 2-6 Women • Veterans Men and Women

We ask that a minimum of two representatives from each section are nominated as the contacts for that function to assist in communication with the committee. Once the fixtures are released teams will be given the opportunity to pick a week in which to hold their function. It will be desirable to have at least 3 weeks between functions and this will be treated on a first come first serve basis. The committee will offer assistance in organising the night and purchasing food/decorations and publication of the event. Functions already booked in for 2012 include: Juniors Quiz night- 28th July (TBC) Black and White day- 26th of May Ideas for functions include:

• Fancy Dress night • Theme night eg. Mexican, Curry etc • Cocktail night, wine tasting • Counter meals and drink specials

If you have any queries or would like to nominate as a social representative please contact Crystal Beckmann at [email protected]

The group that organises the “Best overall function” as

judged by the committee will receive a special bar tab for

grand final night.

Judging criteria will include attendance, profit, enjoyment and

creativity

BBQ/Patio Area Renovations

Ian Haley is currently co-ordinating a project to repair and rejuvenate the BBQ and Patio Area (behind the umpires dugout) at Port Adelaide District Hockey Club. The project will include new roofing and timber, a new BBQ and paving of the grass (often muddy) area at the front of the BBQ.

In order to fundraise for this project, we are looking for individuals, family or businesses who would like to purchase a paver for $50 which will include the clubs logo and two lines of wording the person would like etched onto them. The aim is to have this project completed before the end of the next series of summer hockey.

If you are interested in purchasing a paver, please contact Ian Haley- Email: [email protected] Call/text: 0429 352 783

Paving expertise required! If you know of any club members who could assist in laying the pavers near the BBQ area please contact Ian Haley. Recommendations on professional services are also desirable if you know of someone who can do us a good deal!

Congratulations Tania Lesneuck and Nick Lenoir welcomed baby Max on the 14th of December 2011. We hear mum and bubs are doing well.

Sarah Harrison and Matt Weaver were married at Grange Beach followed by celebrations at Adelaide Shores Resort on December 30th 2011. All the best to the happy couple.
