MACARTHUR NEWS
The next General Meeting of the Macarthur Advancement & Development Association Inc.
Wednesday 13th April 7.30pm at the Macarthur Senior Citizens rooms
Music in the Vines
Music in the Vines kicked off their inaugural event on 5 March 2016 with a bang! Everything worked in the committee's favour; the weather, a great headline act, great execution and most im-portant a great team spirit! Troy Cassar Daley created a unique video on social media specifically aimed at Macarthur and Music in the Vines attendees, which got everyone pumped the week before. The committee received great feedback and all 420 attendees were in favour of another follow-on event in 2017. For a first event, the committee were very pleased with numbers and execution and would like to encourage everyone to get involved next year. Any profit raised through
this event will be distributed to MADA for redistri-bution in the Macarthur community and future seed funding for Music in the Vines event. "We really believe this is the type of event to put Macarthur on the map", said president Pieter Badenhorst. Any feedback is always welcomed at [email protected] and they welcome your involvement. Their facebook page is www.facebook.com/musicinthevines The committee would like to stress what an important role sponsors have played. They could not have pulled this off without the sponsors and donors and are very grateful for the support.

Care for your heart – A Naturopathic Perspective
Heart disease is a major cause of death in Australia. It affects around 14 million Australians and kills one Australian every 27 minutes (Australian Bureau of Statistics March 2015). A fast paced life coupled with a modern diet has been suggested to link to higher mortality rates. To have a healthier heart and to reduce the risk of developing heart disease, the major risk factors such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, high stress life, imbalanced diet, smoking and excessive alcohol consumption need to be well managed. In addition, making adjustments for a healthier life style of early retiring to bed and early rising in the morning, suitable physical exercise, taking on a healthier diet of high fibre, low saturated fat and low glycaemic index can help to gear you towards a healthier heart. A balanced nutrition also keeps you looking young, mentally active and physically energetic. In general, food comprised of high anti-oxidants, omega 3 and complex carbohydrates from natural sources are highly recommended. Fresh fruits and vegetables contain nutrients known as nutraceuticals can prove beneficial for your heart and improve your general health and well-being. Holistically, a positive mind and a merry spirit will keep your heart beating healthily.
Macarthur Cricket Club News
What a huge month it has been for the Macarthur Cricket
Club. Congratulations to the Women’s side for winning the
B Grade Premiership and also to the U16 team for also secur-
ing the Premiership. Both games were very close and very
well contested so well done to all involved. This season is
also the first season in the Competition for both these teams
which makes the wins even more memorable and historic.
C Grade made it to the Semi Final against Byaduk which was
another nail biter. Unfortunately, the lads lost by a mere 14
runs and boy did the players perform so well done on another great year. A Grade also played Byaduk in the Grand final
which was played over the course of two weekends.

Macarthur and District Lions Club
Over the past couple of months Lions club members have been busy working within our local community and sur-rounding areas. The Australia Day celebration was once again held at the Recreation Reserve where MP Roma Britnell was guest speaker. Lions provided a free meal and refreshments with train rides for the children. This activity was supported by Moyne Shire. A request received from the Macarthur Primary School for financial assistance to help pay for new basketball stands re-sulted in a Lions donation of $1200.00 towards the $4200.00 target. In February, for 2 days of the 3 day Campdraft, Lions mem-bers, plus two community people, catered from 6am until stumps with food for competitors and onlookers. This was a financially rewarding activity for our club.
In March the Port Fairy Folk Festival was attended by many volunteers and members of our club. Annually we provide assistance in the Shebeen Bar, something the Macarthur Lions have been doing for 2 decades. We are grateful for the help offered by supporters of Lions enabling us to successfully fill our rosters each year. Before this report is published members will have also run the BBQ at the Annual Macarthur Community auction, and on April 8th the annual Challenge Cancer Children’s visit will take place at the Duyvestyn farm. Children will be given vintage car, fire truck and coach rides as well as being able to interact with birds and animals and watch a sheep shearing demonstra-tion. They will arrive at approx 9.30am, departing 1.30pm. For more information about our local club or any activities John Holcombe, President, ph 55787215, would be pleased to help.

The Magic Bank Account
Imagine that you had won the following *PRIZE* in a contest: Each morning your bank would deposit $86,400 in your private account for your use. However, this prize has rules: The set of rules 1. Everything that you didn't spend during each day would be taken away from you 2. You may not simply transfer money into some other account 3. You may only spend it. 4. Each morning upon awakening, the bank opens your account with another $86,400 for that day. 5. The bank can end the game without warning; at any time it can say,“Game Over!". It can close the account and you will not receive a new one What would you personally do. You would buy anything and everything you wanted right? Not only for yourself, but for all the people you love and care for. Even for people you don't know, because you couldn't possibly spend it all on yourself, right? You would try to spend every penny, and use it all, because you knew it would be replenished in the morning, right?
ACTUALLY, This GAME is REAL .... Shocked ??? YES!
Each of us is already a winner of this *PRIZE*. We just can't seem to see it.
The PRIZE is TIME! 1. Each morning we awaken to receive 86,400 seconds as a gift of life 2. And when we go to sleep at night, any remaining time is Not credited to us. 3. What we haven't used up that day is forever gone 4. Yesterday is forever gone. 5. Each morning the account is refilled, but the bank can dissolve your account at any time WITHOUT WARNING...
SO, what will YOU do with your 86,400 seconds?
Those seconds are worth so much more than the same amount in dollars. Think about it and remember to enjoy every second of your life, because time races by so much quicker than you think.
So take care of yourself, be happy, love deeply and enjoy life!
Here's wishing you a wonderful and beautiful day. Start “spending”....
