Mat 7:12 ESV "So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do

also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Gal 6:9-10 ESV And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due

season we will reap, if we do not give up. (10) So then, as we have

opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are

of the household of faith.

Walmart is not

the only Saving

The Lord’s SupperMat 26:26-28 ESV Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after

Act 20:7 ESV On the first day of the week, when we were gathered

together to break bread, Paul talked with them, intending to depart on the

next day, and he prolonged his speech until midnight.

The church of Christ Worships God

in spirit & TruthJoh 4:19-24 ESV The woman said to him, "Sir, I perceive that you are a

prophet. (20) Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you say that

in Jerusalem is the place where people ought to worship." (21) Jesus

said to her, "Woman, believe me, the hour is coming when neither on this

mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. (22) You

worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation

is from the Jews. (23) But the hour is coming, and is now here, when

the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the

Father is seeking such people to worship him. (24) God is spirit, and

those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth."

The church of Christ Worships God

in spirit & TruthMust worship in spirit and in truth ... This speaks thunderously of the

fact that the worship of God must be done properly, the two requirements

being that it must be engaged in with utmost sincerity and as directed by

the word of God. God has revealed the manner in which he should be

worshipped, and those who hope to have their worship accepted should

heed the restrictions. (Coffman)

Mat 15:8-9 ESV "'This people honors me with their lips, but their heart

is far from me; (9) in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the

commandments of men.'"

Isa 57:15 ESV For thus says the One who is high and lifted up, who

inhabits eternity, whose name is Holy: "I dwell in the high and holy

place, and also with him who is of a contrite and lowly spirit, to revive

the spirit of the lowly, and to revive the heart of the contrite.

Unauthorized Worship

Lev 10:1-2 ESV Now Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, each took

his censer and put fire in it and laid incense on it and offered

unauthorized fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them.

(2) And fire came out from before the LORD and consumed them, and

they died before the LORD.

Joh 17:17 ESV Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.

Worship in spirit and Truth1Co 14:15 ESV What am I to do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will

pray with my mind also; I will sing praise with my spirit, but I will sing

with my mind also.

Jas 5:13 ESV Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone

cheerful? Let him sing praise.

Col 3:16 ESV Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and

admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and

spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

Eph 5:18-19 ESV And do not get drunk with wine, for that is

debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, (19) addressing one another in

psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the

Lord with your heart,

finished, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John

taught his disciples." (2) And he said to them, "When you pray, say:

"Father, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. (3) Give us each

day our daily bread, (4) and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves

forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.

Eph 5:20 ESV giving thanks always and for everything to God the

Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

1Ti 2:8 ESV I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting

holy hands without anger or quarreling;

something aside and store it up, as he may prosper, so that there will be

no collecting when I come.

2Co 8:3-5 ESV For they gave according to their means, as I can testify,

and beyond their means, of their own accord, (4) begging us earnestly

for the favor of taking part in the relief of the saints-- (5) and this, not as

we expected, but they gave themselves first to the Lord and then by the

will of God to us.

2Co 8:12-14 ESV For if the readiness is there, it is acceptable according

to what a person has, not according to what he does not have. (13) For I

do not mean that others should be eased and you burdened, but that as a

matter of fairness (14) your abundance at the present time should

supply their need, so that their abundance may supply your need, that

there may be fairness.

Worship in spirit and Truth2Co 9:6-7 ESV The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap

sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. (7)

Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or

under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

2Co 9:15 ESV Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!

Worship in spirit and TruthAct 2:42 ESV And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and

the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

1Ti 2:12-15 ESV I do not permit a woman to teach or to exercise

authority over a man; rather, she is to remain quiet. (13) For Adam was

formed first, then Eve; (14) and Adam was not deceived, but the woman

was deceived and became a transgressor. (15) Yet she will be saved

through childbearing--if they continue in faith and love and holiness,

with self-control.

Worship in spirit and TruthAlthough comprised of imperfect men, a church of Christ will be:

1. Autonomous with Christ as head, and elders and deacons at the local

level.

2. Takes advantage of the opportunities of worship and the

opportunities to do good to others.

3. Is the home of the saved (Cannot be a Christian and be part of the

church; Cannot be part of the church without being a Christian)

4. Remembers the death of Christ by partaking of the Lord’s Supper

each and every Lord’s Day.

5. Worship God in spirit and in truth.
