Admission Notice for M. Phil. Courses 2013-14

Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore announces schedule of its Entrance Test 2013 for admission in M. Phil. Courses being offered at its University Teaching Departments and two affiliated colleges (Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Arts and Commence College, Indore, and S.B.N. Govt P.G. College, Barwani) for the session 2013-14: Languages (Hindi Literature, English Literature, Sanskrit and Urdu), Commence, Education, Energy and Environment, Library Science, Law, Management, Physical Education, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Journalism, Social Sciences (Social Work, Home Science, Political Science, Geography, History, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and music), Life sciences, Zoology. The application fee is Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates). The application fee can be paid through Demand draft in the name of Registrar, Devi Ahilya University, Indore payable at Indore. The applications will be accepted by respective University Teaching Departments. The applications for subject Zoology will also be accepted by school of Life sciences along with Life Sciences. The entrance test will be held at respective University Teaching Departments August 2, 2013. Last date of submission of application form is July 26, 2013. GENERAL RULES OF ADMISSION IN M. PHIL. COURSES

HOW TO APPLY: 1. A candidate can apply to appear in M. Phil. Courses at University Teaching Departments and two affiliated colleges (1. Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Arts and Commence College, Indore, and 2. S.B.N. Govt P.G. College, Barwani) for the session 2013-14 through submitting an application in respective University Teaching Departments as mentioned below. 2. The M. Phil. course is conducted in following subjects: Commence, Languages (Hindi Literature, English Literature, Sanskrit and Urdu), Education, Energy and Environment, Library Science, Law, Management, Mathematics, Physical Education, Physics, Statistics, Economics, Journalism, Life sciences, Zoology, Social Sciences (Social Work, Home Science, Political Science, Geography, History and Sociology). 3. Apart from these courses mentioned above, the admission in M. Phil. for subjects a) Economics, History and Zoology are for affiliated college S.B.N. Govt P.G. College, Barwani, b) Hindi Literature, English Literature, Commence and Sociology are for affiliated college Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Arts and Commence P.G. College, Indore, are also through the tests conducted by the university through respective school of studies. 4. The application forms and entrance test for admission in subject Zoology for Seats available in S.B.N. Govt P.G. College, Barwani will be collected and conducted by School of Life sciences, D.A.V.V., Indore. 5. The application forms and entrance test for admission in subject Economics for Seats available in S.B.N. Govt P.G. College, Barwani will be collected by School of Economics, D.A.V.V., Indore. 6. The application forms and entrance test for admission in subject History for Seats available in S.B.N. Govt P.G. College, Barwani will be collected and conducted by School of Social Sciences, D.A.V.V., Indore. 7. The application forms for admission and entrance test in subject Hindi Literature, English Literature for Seats available in Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Arts and Commence P.G. College, Indore will be collected and conducted by School of Languages, D.A.V.V., Indore. 8. The application forms for admission and entrance test in subject Commence for Seats available in Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Govt. Arts and Commence P.G. The candidate is advised to apply for admission only if he/she fulfills the eligibility requirements. The onus of checking appropriate eligibility lies with the candidate. Candidate must read and understand the details given in the guidelines carefully before filling the application form. The Application Form is downloaded from the website www.dauniv.ac.in send the complete form with application fee Rs. 500/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST candidates). The application fee can be paid through Demand draft in the name of Registrar, Devi Ahilya University, Indore payable at Indore. The details of seats and eligibility are available in the Table1 of admission in M. Phil. Courses. Ensure that you have correctly marked your category. Change of category shall not be accepted thereafter at any stage. The candidates who fail to indicate the appropriate reservation category in the respective column of the application form will not have any claim for the reservation later on. The name of the candidate must be the same as given in the mark sheet of the qualifying examination of the Board/University. Competent authorities should certify the discrepancies in the names of various mark sheets, if any. Non-appearance in the written test for whatsoever reason will automatically disqualify the candidature for the admission. In case any Board of examination/ University / Institute do not show percentage of marks in the mark sheet, a certificate from the competent authority of the Board/ University / Institute must be produced stating equivalent percentage of marks as well as conversion formula used, along with the mark sheet at the time of counseling. The decision of the University Authority shall be final and binding in the matter relating to admission. The rules may be modified without any prior notice and any modification so made shall be binding. If reserved seats remain vacant in any course on the day of declaration of result, vacant seats will be converted to general category on the basis of merit. If seats remain vacant in any course on the day of declaration of result, vacant seats will be filled up by the concerned School of Studies by taking appropriate measures. The admission is as per Gazette notification of India for UGC (minimum standards and procedure for awards of M. Phil/Ph. D. degree) regulation 2009, New Delhi-110002 the 1st June 2009 in all University teaching departments.

Minimum Percentage for Admissions and Eligibility for Appearing in Entrance Test

Minimum percentage and admission criteria for admission to courses being offered by the University are mentioned in the table 1 & 2 of this document. For minimum eligibility criteria percentage of marks in aggregate in qualifying examination kindly refer to the table 1 & 2 this document. A relaxation of 5% in the eligibility criteria shall be admissible to the bonafide SC/ST applicants of Madhya Pradesh only. A relaxation of 5% in eligibility will also be applicable to Physically Challenged (Nishaktjan) as defined by M.P. Government.

The candidates awaiting their results of qualifying examination can also apply for admission but the candidate has to submit the final mark sheet of qualifying examination by 14th August 2013 or the date as decided by the University.

Candidates who have passed their qualifying examination from universities other than Devi Ahilya University are required to submit Eligibility Certificate issued by the Devi Ahilya University, Indore.

Fresh admission will be given only in first semester / first year of the course.

Reservation Policy and Conversion of Seats

Reservation of seats in courses offered by the University will be in accordance with the policy of Madhya Pradesh Government. The benefit of reservation will be available, only to the domiciles of Madhya Pradesh. Of the total seats, 16 percent and 20 percent seats in courses will be reserved for applicants belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) respectively. Seats of both these categories are interchangeable. Of the total seats in a course, 14 percent seats will be reserved for applicants form OBC category (except who are in creamy layer). Reservation for Persons with disabilities (Physically Handicapped Seats): One seat on over and above basis in each course will be reserved for the physically handicapped candidates with disability percentage of 40 or above. Candidate’s claiming admission against these seats shall be required to produce Disability Certificate from the concerned District Medical Board.

Entrance Test AND Last Date of submission of Admission Forms:

The entrance test will be held on August 2, 2013 at 10 a.m. to 12.00 noon at the respective university teaching departments. The test shall include 100 objective type questions with no negative marking. Last date of submission of application form is July 26, 2013.
