Ein Tropfen bezeichnet zum einen eine Form - zum anderen einen, meist kleinen, Flüssigkeitskörper. Der Flüssigkeitskörper besitzt im Idealfall eine Kugelform. Nur bei der Ablösung des Tropfens vom größeren Flüssigkeitskörper, also der Tropfenentstehung, bildet sich kurzfristig die Tropfenform als instabiler Zustand aus.

Una gota es un volumen pequeño de algún líquido, delimitada casi completamente por superficies encadenadas entre si. La manera más sencilla de formar una gota es permitir que el líquido fluya suavemente hacia el borde de un recipiente. Cuando la gota se exceda de un determinado tamaño, perderá su estabilidad y caerá.
