User Guide – Windows 7 How to upgrade the Lync Client
How to upgrade to Lync version 4.0.7577.4103 (64-bits) This document is a guide on how Windows 7 users upgrade the Lync client. Prerequisites You need to uninstall the current Lync client (version 4.0.7) before installing the upgrade (version 4.0.7577.4103). Before you start please print out this guide. The upgrade will take approx. 10-20 minutes depending on LAN connection and requires one reboot. Close all open application
Prepare your PC for the uninstallation of the old Lync client.
Close – logoff from all open application before uninstallation, specifically: o Lync (right-click on the Lync icon in the taskbar) o Outlook
o Word o Excel
o PowerPoint o Lotus Notes
Uninstall the old Lync client - Lync version 4.0.7
To be able to install the new version you first need to uninstall the old version on your machine.
Close all open applications (see above)
Open the Self Service Manager (Start menu -> All Programs -> HP Client Automation Agent -> Client Automation Application Self Service Manager)
Select Lync 4.0.7
Right click and select Remove
Click Yes to start the
uninstallation of your current Lync application.
Install Lync version 4.0.7577.4103 - 64-bit
Installation of the new 64-bit Lync version.
Open the Self Service Manager (Start menu -> All Programs -> HP Client Automation Agent -> Client Automation Application Self Service Manager)
Select Lync version 4.0.7577.4103 – 64-bit Right click and select Install When the installation is completed press OK. Reboot your machine.
If for some reason the old version is not uninstalled you will receive a warning message.
