Meet our Newest Members… On February 23, 2014, we welcomed these new families/individuals into our Abiding Savior faith family during the 9:30 and 11:00am worship services.

Marcus & Jodi Bronskill are pictured here with their son, Dominic. They found us thanks to an internet search. They had been visiting us for about 3 months when they de-cided to have Dominic bap-tized. Marcus recently gradu-ated college with his degree in nursing and is currently work-ing as a RN. Jodi spends most of her time being mommy to Dominic but also works part time as a photographer. In their spare time, they enjoy time together as a family, play-ing tennis, or even Frisbee

golf.

Marla Frazier pictured here with her husband, Tom, have actually been visiting us for over 2 years. They have re-cently moved from the Wentzville area to the Arnold area. Marla is an assistant teacher in an autism classroom at Wentzville Early Childhood. In her spare time, she enjoys fixing/restoring things with Tom, runs a part time business on the side called T & M Em-broidery, and enjoys cooking as well.

JD Powers was introduced to us thanks to his wife, Johanna, who is pictured with him. Jo-hanna has been an active mem-ber for a number of years. JD has participated in a couple of our Send Me events with her and really enjoyed the fellow-ship within our church communi-ty. JD works for a family owned insurance company. In his spare time, he enjoys snow-boarding, rock climbing, basket-ball, football, and soccer, and most especially spending time with his bride.

Eric & Tina Kraus pictured here with their 3 daughters, Peyton, Megan, and Finley, are transfer-ring to us from Faith Lutheran Church in Oakville. Peyton and Megan will be en-rolled in our elemen-tary school next school year. Eric works as a dealer at Hollywood Casino.

In his spare time, he enjoys running and brewing his own beer. Tina is the lead sales associate for Ideal Image. She enjoys gardening and decorat-ing. Even though they work opposite shifts, they enjoy spending as much time together as they can.

Justin & Jennifer Murphy are pic-tured here with their daughter, Bailey. Justin used to attend Washington Lu-theran School and our church years ago. He is returning with his family now that Bailey is in our early childhood pro-gram. Justin is a stay at home dad. Jennifer is a trained chef but is currently unemployed. They love to read, watch movies, and just spend time together.

Sherri Murphy pictured here with her husband, Paul, used to be member years ago. In fact, she and Paul were actually married here too, in what we now use as our Stronghold. She is now rejoining us thanks to her son’s family (pictured above). Sherri works in retail at Petco. She enjoys spend-ing time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, drawing, and cooking.

MEMBERSHIP - Now that you’ve spent some time with us, we are excited you’re consider-ing membership. If you desire to learn more about Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and desire to be a part of a community of believers, then join us! Our church is a place where you can learn more about Jesus, grow in your faith , and meet others seeking “To Know Christ To Make Him Known.” Membership is offered three times during the calendar year: Jan-uary, April/May, and September.

ORIENTATION - A four week introduction to Abiding Savior. In this class you will hear first hand what’s happening within our ministry. Plus, you’ll have a chance to discover more about yourself by taking the Spiritual Gifts Inventory. A personal meeting discussing the details of that inventory provides further clarification. Orientation is offered Sunday mornings, from 9:30-10:30am. If you have children, then check out our nursery care, Sunday School, and Youth Bible studies.

Next Class Series Begins: Next Class Series Begins: May 4 May 4 -- May 25, 2014 May 25, 2014

YOU Are needed!

For a number of years now, I have been blessed to share this message with our new members as they go through the membership process. When hearing from these new, excited faces, one thing seems to be a resound-ing gong - the desire to connect, to form relationships They often comment on how friendly our church is and how “it just felt like home.” Naively I wondered, shouldn’t our initiative to join a church be driven by a desire to seek our Sav-ior? But of course, God always has a plan. So I tell these new members, that it doesn’t matter what brought them through our doors - God wanted you. He chose you. It’s a humbling thought to be “wanted”, “chosen” by the creator of the universe.

When you read Scripture that mes-sage is echoed over and over again. And, with Easter a few short weeks away, we are reminded, yet again, through the death and resurrection of our Savior, just how much God loves us. That is why it”s so sad when Satan distorts that message and our desire to connect and instead uses it to drive us away from church when sinful imperfect people inside the church disappoint us.

A couple weeks ago, Pastor David sent out an email blast. It was an email devotional written by Rick Warren, pas-tor at Saddleback Church in CA, regard-ing this very question. In his article, Warren uses a great analogy of the bod-ily organ the liver. The article is includ-ed below. A non-functioning liver can lead to serious health issues for the body and eventually death. In just the sameseparating the liver from the body leads to death for that organ. Sure, we may enjoy being on our own, discon-nected from the body (the church), but eventually we will feel lonely, isolated, and suffer spiritually from having been disconnected. The funny thing is, when we function the way God designed us, part of His church, we feel fulfilled. By simply using the gifts God has given us

and getting involved, we grow closer to Christ, AND we also feel more connect-ed, - part of - the body, His church and the people in it.

In a world where it is socially trendy to disconnect through emails, texting, Twitter, or Facebook, people are actual-ly starving for relationships. Our all-knowing Father knew that and prepared for us a church, a faith family in which we could find that solace. On top of that, He’s also gifted us in amazing ways to serve and connect to those around us. Connecting and serving fosters life and growth. That growth allows churches to thrive, to function and spread Christ’s message. Do you see why you are so vitally needed?

Warren has an email devotional enti-tled Daily Hope, and this particular mes-sage was one of his 40 Days of Love.

Here is what Warren said:

Why Does the Church Need Me? by Rick Warren

“All of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NLT)

One reason why you need to be connected to a church family is to fulfill your calling to serve other believers in practical ways. The Bible says, “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Co-rinthians 12:27 (NLT). Your service is desperately needed in the Body of Christ — just ask any local church! Each of us has a role to play, and eve-ry role is important. There is no small service to God; it all matters. Like-wise, there are no insignificant minis-tries in the church. Some are visible and some are behind the scenes, but all are valuable. Small or hidden minis-tries often make the biggest difference. In my home, the most important light is not the large chandelier in our dining room but the little night-light that keeps

me from stubbing my toe when I get up at night. There is no corre-lation between size and significance. Every ministry matters because we are all dependent on each other to function. What hap-pens when one part of your body fails to function? You get sick. The rest of your body suffers. Imagine if your liver decided to start living for itself: “I’m tired! I don’t want to serve the body anymore! I want a year off just to be fed. I’ve got to do what’s best for me! Let some other part take over.” What would happen? Your body would die. Today thou-sands of local churches are dying because of Christians who are unwill-ing to serve. They sit on the sidelines as spectators, and the Body suffers.

God calls you to a service far be-yond anything you could ever imag-ine. He created you for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for you to do (Ephesians 2:10). When-ever you serve others in any way, you are actually serving God.
