if you replace an existing fixture by a new luminaire it may occur that the existing ceiling opening does not match with the opening of the new fixture. Lumission offers a solution for every ceiling opening between 70 and 240 mm!! the Lumission luminaires are designed for common ceiling apertures. if the ceiling opening is yet too large a conversion ring can be applied. we

offer a conversion ring for an opening between 100 and 150 mm (for the inpact 90) and for an opening between the 160 and 240 mm (for the inpact 150). the overview below shows which fixtures suits the current ceiling cut-out

the use of LeD arrays in combination with the uniQue Lumission opticaL system (LOS) enabLes us to create exceLLent Light Distribution anD proViDe 70% energy saVing compareD with conVentionaL Lamp-fixture combinations of the same output.

lumiSSion optical System (loS)the technology of using lenses in combination with the LeD array and a high quality reflector results in a high optical efficiency of up to 85% and a superb light distribution. in the Lumission optical system the light of the LeD array is concentrated by the internal reflector and then directed by the lens in the required beam angle (spot, flood, wide flood).the exchangeable lenses that are available for creating different beam angles create flexibility to optimize your lighting scheme.Luminaire efficiency is an important issue, but even more important is to have the light directed to the place where you need it.

by our unique LOS we significantly reduce light spillage, thus resulting in a superior high efficiency in the total lighting scheme. the LeD-array is a high-tech component. by positioning the LeD behind the lens it is protected against mechanical damaging (e.g by touching) and dust, which can negatively influence the lumen output.

thermal controlthe LeD arrays used in the Lumission products make use of the metal bond technology (mbt). this technique has proved to give a reduction in thermal resistance by 30-50 percent as compared to LeD solutions available on the market today. furthermore lower thermal resistance is advantageous for the lighting system as it increases the light output and reduces the need for heat sink requirements.Lumission uses optimized passive cooling to dissipate the heat of the LeD efficiently via the heat sink which prevents deterioration of the LeD and other components. by using this reliable thermal control we have an expected lifetime of 50,000 hours with high lumen maintenance resulting in up to 70% of initial lumens available at the end of lifetime (L70). thanks to this reliable thermal control in the Lumission fixtures, the bridgelux® LeD-array has a warranty period of 5 years.

colour rendering the colour rendering index indicates to what degree the colour rendering of a light source deviates from that of an incandescent lamp.the colour rendering of Lumission LeD products is cri 82 for the 3000K fixtures.

photobiological safety aspectsunder normal conditions of usage LeD do not give any particular sanitary risk.however, it is in all cases recommended not to look at the light source, whatever it is, from the front. in Lumission LeD fixtures the LeD arrays are positioned deep into the luminaire for additional glare control and visual comfort, thus limiting luminance.

higher harmonics higher harmonic frequencies are whole multiples of the fundamental frequency (50 hz). higher harmonics are numbered with an integer. so is the third harmonic of our 50 hz fundamental frequency 150 hz and the seventh harmonic 350 hz. figure 1 shows a sine wave with fundamental frequency with the third and the seventh harmonic. the harmonics are added to the ground frequency resulting in the deviation in the form in figure 3.

when harmonics occur in electrical installations, we are dealing with non-linear changes of voltage and current. the original sine shape is sometimes no longer even recognizable. the harmonics are caused by non-linear electrical components in the installation, for example bad drivers. these components do not follow the voltage but generate current pulses by itself.

this changes the shape of the current and can lead to failures in some devices and high current through the neutral conductor

harmonics can be reduced by means of filters. Lumission uses only drivers that meet the standards with respect to harmonics. below, as an example, the harmonics for inpact 2100lm and the maximum allowed values.

the inrush current the inrush current for the high power Lumission drivers (from 25w) have no surge, meaning that the drivers do not use higher current when switched on than during normal use.

power factorthe power factor is the ratio between the actual power and apparent power (or blind power) in a ac installation.

apparent power: p (s) = u. i (Va) → expressed in volts amps.

actual power: p (w) = u. i (w) → expressed in watts.

the actual power is the actual amount of energy transferred per unit of time, in watts. as a result of a phase shift between voltage and current, or by not sine shaped voltage or current there is a deviation. this deviation is called the phase difference or "cos phi". cos phi = p (w)/p (s)

the above only applies when current and voltage are exactly sine shaped. another cause of a non-ideal power factor is the distortion of a signal. when current or voltage do not have exactly the same shape, the power factor will be less than 1. in that case the signal contains a harmonic distortion. this kind of distortion occurs whith rectifiers and inverters. the result of a power factor less than 1 is that more electric power is transported than there is usefully consumed. this leads to transport losses on the mains.

unlike traditional light sources LeDs do not work on ac power, but on Dc. this Dc is produced by rectifiers, also known as driver. this causes a shift of the signals. the degree of pollution as a result

of this conversion of alternating current to direct current is displayed in the cos phi. cos phi and power factor are often used interchangeably. the power factor gives a more complete picture in case of LeD lamps. the cos phi is only the phase difference between the voltage and current. in the power factor the degree of distortion is included. a sinusoidal voltage and block-shaped current can be in phase and cos phi = 1 while the power factor is smaller than 1.
