Olives, He sent two of His disciples, saying to them, `Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever

Riding a colt into the city was a

public declaration that He was a King.

Jesus "...set His face steadfastly to go to

Jerusalem."

The Catalyst: Lazarus’ resurrection.

Therefore the chief priests and the Pharisees convened a council, and were

saying, “What are we doing?

For this man is performing many signs. If we let Him go on like this, all men will

believe in Him…”(John 11:47-48a)

Scripture often points out Jesus reacting emotionally:

…He had compassion on them.

WHY WAS

As He approached Jerusalem and saw the city,

He wept over it and said,

'If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace ‑

but now it is hidden from your eyes. The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an

They will dash you to the ground, you and the children

They had waved palm branches before.

They wanted a warlord!

“But I say to you who hear, love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. Whoever hits you on the cheek, offer him the other also; and whoever takes away your coat, do not

withhold your shirt from him either.”

• Lost opportunities.• Armies of Titus/city leveled.• People starving/blood running in

the streets.

What Jesus saw:

"O Jerusalem, Jerusalem. How often would I have gathered you together as a

hen gathers her chicks beneath her wings. But you would not come.”

(Matt. 23:37)

What does Jesus find when He looks into our lives?

NO TEARS!

"Well done, good and faithful servant.

Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord."
