Day 1 - Saturday 21st December 2019 (D)YANGON ARRIVALUpon arrival Yangon international airport, you will be met and transfered to the hotel. This evening you will meet your Two’s a Crowd Host, your local english-speaking guide and your fellow traveling companions at a welcome dinner and tour briefing.

Day 2 - Sunday 22nd December 2019 (B)YANGONUntil 2005 Myanmar’s capital, Yangon, remains its biggest city and bustling heart. Take a guided tour of this fascinating and fast-changing place, first visiting the National Museum to see its historical treasures. Visit downtown area, designed in the mid-1800s by Lieutenant Alexander Fraser (who also designed Singapore). The streets are laid out on a grid pattern – with numbers increasing from west to east, making navigation fairly simple (but bear in mind the occasional road has a name rather than a number). This evening we visit the stunning Shwedagon Pagoda, one of the world’s great religious structures.

Day 3 - Monday 23rd December 2019 (B, L, D) YANGON- BAGANAfter our breakfast at the hotel, we will be transferred to the airport and take the flight to Bagan. Upon arrival in to Bagan, we will be met and transferred to the jetty to board ‘The Strand’s’ luxury 5 day cruise from Bagan to Mandalay. After checking-in to our cabins and enjoying lunch on board, we then will be taken to visit the nearby Shwezigon Pagoda, famous for its gold leaf décor, and the Ananda temple, one of most exquisite temples in Myanmar. We continue our exploration of the Bagan Heritage Trail, including the beautiful Sulamani and Gubyaukgyi temples. As the sun sets, admire Bagan’s magnificent sights over the Ayeyarwady river from the ship’s sundeck, sipping a Strand signature cocktail. After sundown, enjoy a traditional Myanmar cultural show before joining your fellow travellers in our fine dining restaurant for a Myanmar dinner.

Day 4 - Tuesday 24th December 2019 (B, L, D) CRUISING The ship casts off for a relaxing cruise upstream. Enjoy the passing landscapes and villages along the river bank, with scenes reminiscent of the days of Rudyard Kipling and other intrepid explorers who have visited this rugged landscape over the centuries.


Day 5 - Wednesday 25th December 2019 (B, L, D) AVA After a leisurely breakfast, day three brings a visit to Ava, the ancient imperial capital of successive Burmese Kingdoms from the 14th to 19th centuries. Horse carts or, if you prefer a local tuk-tuk, await the ship to transport guests for a delightful ride through the naturally preserved Ava landscape and key landmarks.


Day 6 - Thursday 26th December 2019 (B, L D) CRUISING- MINGUN- MANDALAY Today our first stop is the U-Bein Bridge, a crossing that spans the Taungthaman Lake near Amarapura, before visiting the Mahamui Buddha temple and the Shwe In Bin monastery. After lunch onboard, we will stop in Mingun, one of the country’s former capitals. Guests will visit the unfinished pagoda, as well as the Hsinbyume pagoda and Mingun bell. Our final night is spent at an exclusive mooring overnight close to a temple, while guests enjoy a gastronomic dinner onboard the river cruiser.

Day 7 - Friday 27th December 2019 (B, L, D) ARRIVE MANDALAY The Strand Cruise arrives in Mandalay, Myanmar’s second- largest city and the last royal capital of Myanmar. In the early morning guests will attend a private Alms Giving Ceremony with the Monks before heading back on board to enjoy a leisurely breakfast prior to disembarkation. The crew of the R.V Strand bid you farewell before our guide transfers you to the hotel from jetty. After check-in at your hotel, we will visit the last royal palace of the Konbaung dynasty, recalling the days of Thibaw and his queen, Supayalat, before they were expelled to India by the British. From the top of Mandalay Hill we are able to take in the surrounding magical sights.

Day 8 - Saturday 28th December 2019 (B,L) PYIN OO LWINThe colonial hill station of Pyin Oo Lwin, was a summer retreat during British rule. Its altitude of 1,070m and relatively cool climate allowed the British ruling class to escape the fearsome heat of Mandalay and lower Myanmar. During that era, the town was called Maymyo (meaning ‘May’s town’ in Burmese, after a British colonel who was stationed there), and is still sometimes referred to this way today. Officially named National Kandawgyi Gardens, the botanical gardens were opened in 1915 and are still beautifully maintained. They are home to a wide variety of colorful flora and fauna, including dedicated flower shows and wildlife including gibbons and takin, goat-antelopes that are native to the Himalayas.

Day 9 - Sunday 29th December 2019 (B, L) PINDAYA - INLE LAKE After having breakfast at our hotel we drive to Pindaya (approx 5hrs). Pindaya is a serene lakeside town set in the hills of Shan State. Next we head to the Pindaya Caves. Located just to the south of the town, they contain nearly 8,000 Buddha images that have been placed there over the centuries as a form of merit making. Made of various materials and of different sizes, the statues are situated in every nook and cranny throughout the many cave chambers. On the walk to the caves, we will pass through an atmospheric section between gigantic trees whose trunks and branches weave unusually along the ground. This afternoon we continue on to Inle Lake (approx. 1.5hrs)

Day 10 - Monday 30th December 2019 (B, L) INLE LAKE & SURROUNDS This morning after breakfast, proceed to the jetty and take a traditional wooden boat to explore around the lake.Highlights include the central Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, the floating gardens, Inn Paw Khone village to witness the lotus and silk weaving industries where we can buy locally-produced handicrafts and the floating village of Ywama.


Day 11 - Tuesday 31st December (B, L, D) INLE LAKE & SURROUNDS Sightseeing to the crumbling 17th century pagodas at Indein on the western shore of Inle Lake, weaving up narrow creeks as we make our way when we turn back to Inle from the pagodas. Also, in that area we will have the chance to see ethnic Pa’O tribes. Lunch will be enjoyed at Indein village. This afternoon we have a completely different type of experience and head up to the Red Mountain Estate Vineyard. The vineyard is nestled in the hills to the east of Inle Lake, and the sunset views are absolutely stunning. This evening we will feast and enjoy the merriment at a New Year Gala Dinner.



Day 12 - Wednesday 1st January 2020 (B,L) INLE LAKE - HEHO - YANGONAfter breakfast, the group will transfer to Heho airport for our flight back to Yangon. Upon arrival in to Yangon we will transfer to hotel and check in. This afternoon we visit Bogyoke Aung San Market (often shortened to Bogyoke Market or referred to by its original name, Scott Market). It is situated on the northern edge of downtown, on Bogyoke Aung San road, and is Yangon’s most famous place to shop. The market is within a colonial-era building constructed in 1926, and inside we will find over two thousand shops and stalls selling food, clothing, handicrafts, jewelry, antiques and paintings – an art gallery can be found on its east side. Next we pay a visit to Kandawgyi Lake. Also known as Royal Lake, it was originally a reservoir constructed during British colonial times. The Lake is one of Yangon’s most pleasant open spaces and is most attractive at sunset, when the glittering Shwedagon Paya is reflected in its calm waters. It hosts a lucious green and tree-filled area and there are plenty of lakeside cafes which are good spots to enjoy a drink and gaze at your tranquil surroundings.


Day 13 - Thursday 2nd January 2020 (B) YANGON DEPARTURE After your breakfast at the hotel, our guide will transfer the group to the Yangon airport in time for your onward flight. Alternately, why not stay longer in Yangon and continue to soak up the serenity.
