Lucy, a black Labrador retriever (English mix), was adopted by Ms. Rider in July of 2007. She was 9 weeks old at the time.

Lucy was certified as a therapy dog at 2 years old.

The former principal of HCRHS, Ms. Steffner, met Lucy at Ms. Rider’s house. She was calm and great-spirited so Steffner invited her to meet in front of the Board of Education (knowing she was certified as a therapy dog).

Lucy started coming to

school in the spring of 2012. That September she was invited

to a formal Board meeting

and was introduced by Ms. Steffner herself. The

BOE officially approved to let

her come to school then.

Lucy’s going to be 6 years old on May 16th, 2013.
