Page 3: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

It was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and launched that July. The service rapidly gained worldwide popularity, with over 140 million active users as of 2012, generating over 340 millions tweets daily and handling over 1.6 billion search queries per day. >It has been described as "the SMS of the Internet."

• A Twitter List is a great tool for relationship building that allows you to group together people you follow, so that you can easily track what they’re up to. You can also choose to keep your list private or public, with the latter option allowing others to follow your list.

Usage of twitterA Twitter List is a great tool for

relationship building that allows you to group together people you follow, so that you can easily track what they’re up to.

You can also choose to keep your list private or public, with the latter option allowing others to follow your list.

The number one advantage of creating a Twitter List is convenience.

• However, not many people are taking advantage of this convenience to build up their public relations efforts. Here are a few ways that Twitter Lists can help you:

Media monitoring

• Create a list of the media you’d like to cover you, so that you can easily follow what they’re saying and quickly jump into the conversation to answer a question or help them out.

• You’ll see that media ask for story ideas or sources to interview for their stories from their Twitter community.

Page 8: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

MARKET RESEARCH• Create a list of your top blog commenters

or people who fit your target demographic. Take note of what interests them, what problems they currently have and the products or blogs that they recommend.

• You can then adapt your own offerings, whether it’s a product or blog post, to what your audience is saying they want and need.

Page 9: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

SHARE THE LOVE

• Feature reporters, clients, and your niche influencers on a public list like “Top 20 Innovative Minds” or “15 Tech Reporters You Need to Follow” and then, tweet this list to these people. They’ll appreciate the recognition and you’ll stand out to them even more.

Page 10: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

KEEP AN EYE ON THE COMPETITION

• Use private lists to monitor your competition’s conversations and learn from what they’re talking about. Again, you may be able to glean some helpful information for your business based on what you learn.

SUMMARYThis is where we determine the true

strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of making Twitter as your favorite social network or media. Even though it has many limits, Twitter is still growing faster, over and over again

The main purpose only for Twitter is to post anything which they only ask you one thing, “What are you doing?” You have the freedom to post anything on Twitter, but not abusive types which may lead you to bad feedbacks from the other followers and members.

FOUNDER OF TWITTER

Page 18: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

Jack Dorsey (born November 19, 1976) is an American software architect and businessmanwidely known as the creator of Twitter and as the founder and CEO of Square, a mobile payments company.[3] In 2008, he was named to the MIT Technology Review TR35 as one of the top 35 innovators in the world under the age of 35.

Page 19: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

Dorsey grew up in St. Louis, Missouri,[5]

and by age 13, he had become interested in dispatch routing. Some of the open source software he created in the area of dispatch logistics is still used by many taxi cab companies.[5] He went to high school at Bishop DuBourg High Schooland attended the Missouri University of Science and Technology before subsequently transferring to New York University, where he first conceived the idea for Twitter.[6]

While working on dispatching as a programmer he later moved to California.[7][8]

Page 20: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

In Oakland in 2000, Dorsey started his company to dispatch couriers, taxis, and emergency services from the Web.[9] His other projects and ideas at this time included networks of medical devices and a "frictionless service market".[9] In July 2000, building on dispatching[5] and inspired in part by LiveJournal and possibly by AOL Instant Messenger, he had the idea for a Web-based realtime status/short message communication service.[9]

Page 21: LUCPHM125/LNCDPHJUL11/3/TWITTER

When he first saw implementations of instant messaging, Dorsey had wondered if the software's user status output could be shared among friends easily.[5] He approached Odeo, who at the time happened to be interested in text messaging.[5] Dorsey and Biz Stone decided that SMS text suited the status message idea, and built a prototype of Twitter in about two weeks.[5] The idea attracted many users at Odeo and investment from Evan Williams[5] who had left Google after selling them Pyra Labs and Blogger.

Congratulations! You are now an official member of the Twitter community. You talk, act, think and breathe like us. Perhaps you find yourself spending every

five minutes updating Twitter on what you are doing. But I guess I’ll save Twitter addiction for next time.
