Alter-HouseConcept design3D ModelCreated with SketchUp, the digital model allows in-depth exploration of the concept. The partial underground thought archive is surrounded by glass as, just like our thoughts, it should be viewed from all angles. Small viewports in the floor of the architect’s space allow for ease of viewing to the archive which stimulates inspiration

Site 33°38’57.1”N 2°27’20.3”E - El Haouita, Algeria
Featuring mostly flat terrain on site, El Haouita is a stunning desert landscape with beautiful views and minimal distractions for the architect that dwells in the alter house. With consistent sunshine from dawn to dusk, and from all angles, the dwelling can be well lit without the introduction of artificial globes

Working off of the thought figures in assessment one, the alter house is
simultaneously a vertical and horizontal being that will invoke a warm or
cold feeling depending on who dwells within it.
The first floor is a dedicated thought archive for the dweller. It is
surrounded by glass which represents how I process and share my
thoughts. Like most, my thoughts are rarely fully contained and are
viewed from several angles by either myself or in a collaborative
environment. It is light filled and has a glass ceiling, which is a physical
representation of the metaphorical glass ceiling that exists in the built
environment but with the positive light I shine apon it and my abilities.
The architect’s space is on the first floor and is a literal
embodiment of the ideal space for most architects like
me. A comfortable place to sit or nap on and a drafting
table, and chair, that can be folded up neatly on the wall
to allow for extra space to spread out serveral pieces of
the paper on the floor. The floor hosts just few
viewports to allow the architect to viewed their stored
items
With windows on every wall except the north wall, light
is guaranteed to fill the space from dawn to dusk
resulting in minimal artificial lighting being required.
The entire first floor is made out of lightweight concrete
and covered in a lightweight cladding for style purposes.
The roofing is lightweight corrogated steel, allowing for
the structure to be perched on eight stone pillars. This
takes all stress off of the minimal steel frame on the
first floor and allows the glass to be uninhibited by the
skeleton of the building.
