Alvin Greene, D-SC, ran a campaign based on the following:

No adds, signs, stump speeches, debates, or anything to help get him elected. He won the primary against the heavy favorite (59%). The two thoughts are that the people didn’t want a persond with a political history and his name came first on the ballot. – Who is the problem here – greene or the voters?

When do you go to college? When do you drive a car?

There are requirements for all of these things, but just because you qualify, doesn’t mean that you are any good at it. You need to be transformed into something… you need understanding and maturity.

Your transformation into the image of Christ directly correlates to the implementation of this scripture.

Deut 6:5

ALL The Heart, ALL the soul ALL the might

Jesus said.

Heart – lebab – cardia – inner man

Function of the heart (image) double pumping action – removes dead blood from body, sends to lungs. Then takes fresh blood from lungs and pumps in to the body.

The heart is: deceitfully wicked –Jer 17:10

Jeremiah 17:10 says the heart is more treacherous than anything else meaning that it can decieve us.If we don't practice our spirituality and study and meditate on God's word.Bad habits are never broken,just replaced by good ones.So we should not trust our hearts.Matthew 4:41 Chronicals 28:9 says we can serve God with a complete heart and Proverbs 4:23 says we can safegaurd our heart.Matthew 5:8 says happy are the pure in heart,God was not condemning everyone when he said this just making us aware of how we can fall.1 Corinthians 10:12

What is the heart? The the valve allowing good and evil to flow in your life. By sin’s default, it is set to evil.

It is the inner most part of you, the core of your beliefs which determine the direction you move in.

It is the bent, the leaning, the passion, the motive

All of your heart means that your drive needs to point 100% to God

Soul:

Hebrew nehfesh – living being, life, (from the Hebrew for breath) activity of the will,

Greek – psuche – breath, living being, feelings

Jesus

Jesus breaks this Heart, Soul and Strength up by dividing Soul into Soul, mind and understanding.

Matt 22:37: heart, soul and mind

Mark 12:30: heart, soul, mind and strength

Scribe replies (vs 33) heart, understanding, soul and strength (Jesus affirms his interpretation for the use of the word “understanding”)

The nehfesh is divided into three areas – soul, mind and understanding

Soul: The who you are, the seat of you – you are a living sacrifice to God Mind: the battlefield of your life, also the knowledge you collect, the choices you make Understanding: Wisdom, the implementation of knowledge

Strength – (translated “might”) – lit. exceeding, abundance

Not related to just strength, but the everything (it is the catch all – finances, physical body, energy, abundance)

What do we apply this devotion to?

Love the Lord Deut 6:5 –: Heart, Soul, Strength

Seek the Lord: Deut 4:29 –Heart and Soul

Serve the Lord: Deut 11:13 Heart and Soul

Obey the Lord: Deut 26:16, 30:2 Heart Soul

Repent (turn): Deut 30:10 Heart and Soul (2 kIngs adds might)

The key is that love is an action more than it is a condition. You have to show it so others know it.
