California Art Wants
WHAT IS CALFORNIA FINE ART ?1. One of the largest juried
art exhibitions for adult artists in the Western United States.
2. A long-standing California State Fair tradition. The State Fair has hosted a fine art exhibit since 1854.
3. A competition/juried show open to new and emerging artists as well as estab-lished artists.
WHAT IS CALFORNIA Crafts ?1. A large and diverse show
of the many crafts that represent the best of California Crafters.
2. A California State Fair tradition since the first fair in 1854.
3. A competition show open to all California residents which showcases the years finest and emerging crafts in California.

o Docents are volunteer teachers who provide learning experiences for Art visitors in the form of discussion, tours, and facilitation of art sales.
o Help enhance the visitor experience.
o Provide a vital link between the art and the visitors.
o A background in art is not required.
o A passion for life-long learning is required.
o We will train you.
Pre-Fair Preparationso Assist with artwork
delivery and pickup events
o Help hang artwork labels
During the Fairo Enrich the Art exhibit
experience for Fair visitors
o Help at the Awards Event
o Provide information about the exhibit history, judging process, jurors, awards, exhibiting and demon- strating artists
o Assist Fair visitors with art purchases
o Answer general questions about art techniques, styles and materials
