What work did you do today on your science project?Today, we found a few good websites and books. We can look through them for ideas on experiment and topics we can choose.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? It was difficult to find a very good topic. However, we did get some ideas flowing for the project.

Details of the results of the day’s work:We found some books and websites we can look through in order to decide our experiment and topic. We also generated some ideas for the science fair project.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?We need to look through these websites and books and find a topic for us to start on.



What work did you do today on your science project?Today, we narrowed down our lists of ideas into a list of the top 10 topics we would like to get more into.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? We still did not choose a topic. However, we researched a lot and successfully got a list of topics to choose from.

Details of the results of the day’s work:We discussed our different ideas and created a list of different topic ideas.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?Now we have to choose on one final topic.



What work did you do today on your science project?We have found a topic that we are interested in. We are now trying to do research to find more about the experiment that we are doing. We also reviewed the steps of a science fair project.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? We have succeeded in finding a good topic. There were no difficulties that we encountered.

Details of the results of the day’s work:We started to get the project underway and began to research topic.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?We can now research our topic and develop a hypothesis.



What work did you do today on your science project?We began preparing our experiment. Also, we thought about the hypothesis and how we are going to word the topic question.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? A difficulty for us was to figure out what type of bacteria to use.Today we were successful in getting most of the experiment figured out!

Details of the results of the day’s work:Today we organized the experiment details and have a brief outline of the hypothesis.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?We need to research our topic more, develop a hypothesis and do the experiment.



What work did you do today on your science project?Today we emailed the UFV lab technician and asked our school Biology lab technician, to see if they had the materials.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? Our school Biology lab had all the materials except for bacteria. Sadly, UFV doesn’t lend our bacteria strains without a permit so we weren’t successful.

Details of the results of the day’s work:We found most of the materials, except for the needed E. Coli. Also, we did research on how to grow bacteria.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?We need to now grow our own bacteria.

What work did you do today on your science project?Today we prepared all the petri dishes with agar and put the bacteria out to grow.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? Since neither our school, nor UFV offers the needed bacteria strains, we had to grow our own. The problem is that we don’t know which bacteria we are specifically growing.

Details of the results of the day’s work:We researched how to prepare petri dishes and grow bacteria. We prepared all the needed petri dishes with the nutrient agar and swabbed raw meat for bacteria samples. We know that raw meat mostly possesses E. Coli bacteria on its outside, so that’s what we hope it is.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?We need to wait and make sure that the bacteria grow before we can use them. In the meantime, we will continue researching.



What work did you do today on your science project?Today we finished the hypothesis and did more research on herbal medicines. Also we have an outline of our project and the experimental procedure. We wrote our testable prediction.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? We are successfully finished the hypothesis and topic question. The bacterium is still growing so we can’t start on the experiment.

Details of the results of the day’s work:Today we made a brief outline of how our project will look like. We are finished the hypothesis, topic question and have done a lot of research. The bacterium is still growing but we have the steps for the experimental procedure written down. Also, we wrote our testable prediction.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?We need to do the experiment, once the bacteria have grown some more.



What work did you do today on your science project?Today we set up the experiment.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? We are done setting up the experiment, now, everyday we just have to take pictures and measure the diameter of the bacteria.

Details of the results of the day’s work:Today we set up the experiment by following our experimental design and adding milk to one petri dish, milk and bacteria to another petri dish and milk, bacteria and garlic to another in the specified amounts we decided on earlier. We allowed each of them to incubate in test tubes for two hours before adding them to the petri dish.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?Every day we will have to measure the diameter of growth of the bacteria colony and take pictures.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? We encountered no difficulties today. We are successful because we did day one of our experiment.

What work did you do today on your science project?Today we worked on the good copy of our logbook, and on our observations, charts, discussion and research paper. Also, we worked on the website.

Were there any difficulties you encountered (faced)? Did you have any great successes? It was a bit difficult making the charts and combining our information for the research paper but all in all we succeeded.

Details of the results of the day’s work:We made a good copy of all the log book pages, wrote out our observations, discussion, “the next step,” and sources of error, we worked on our research paper, we made different types of charts and worked on our website.

What is the next thing you’ll need to do for your science fair project?We need to write our research paper, and make a good copy of the observations, discussion, “the next step,” and sources of error. Also, we need to work on the website and presentation.
