How was I chosen for the survey?

How will I know that the interviewer is fromthe CSO?

Will anyone else see my answers?

What type of questions will I be asked?

whether you have a condition that limits you in doingeveryday activities

the type, degree and cause of your condition

your use of aids and appliances

the caring and help that you may receive from others

the attitudes of other people to you

any transport and building access issues that youmay have

your education and work situation

your participation in social and sport activities

The sample for the survey was selected on a randombasis by the CSO taking into account the responses tothe health and disability questions in the recent CSOCensus of Population. The survey is focussed onpersons who indicated in the Census that they had adisability or longstanding health condition. A smallnumber of persons without a health condition havealso been included for completeness and comparisonpurposes. Around 17,000 persons across all ages arebeing interviewed.

The interviewer will show you her/his CSO photographidentification. Under no circumstances should youaccept any other ID. Please phone the CSO using theLoCall number 1890 637 637, should you have anydoubts about the credentials of the interviewer.

Absolutely NOT. The NDS is being conducted under theprovisions of the Statistics Act, 1993. In strict conformitywith the Act, the CSO guarantees that the confidentiality ofindividual data will be fully protected at all times. Thesurvey is also fully compliant with the requirements of dataprotection legislation.
