Topic: Beginning, Managing and Ending Relationships

Relationships and friendships are crucial to us as people as they enrich our lives. In this essay I would like to explain to Sarah how to fix her friendship with Robin and manage other relationships and form new ones. Initiating friendships is easier if you show some interest in life and other people around you. Talking to others about themselves and participating in activities where you can meet people with like-minded interests.

Sustaining relationships is also important and takes hard work. Relationships are best sustained by being honest, forgiving showing interest and listening to what others have to say.

Ending relationships is hard but sometimes necessary if someone is not treating you or others in a group well.

In this situation, Robin is using Sarah by making her do things she does not want to do and criticizing her. This makes her feel scared and embarrassed. True friends should have a mutual respect for each other. Sarah feels upset because Robin is constantly criticizing and belittling her. One of the possible solutions for her problem would be to ignore the problem (although this would be unwise as the problem will only develop). The Solution I suggest for Sarah is to make a list of all the things bothering her about her relationship with and confront Robin, explaining that her behaviour is cruel and unkind. Honesty is the best route in this situationSarah should also understand that friendship shouldnt be based on the popularity of the other person.Personally I believe that Sarah should end this destructive relationship because it is destroying her life and lowering her self-concept and motivation. I dont think Robin would respond positively to Sarah approaching her, but she does need to hear Sarahs concerns anyway.
