Head and Breast

Stitches:

Offset Ray Basketweave Outline Stitch Horizontal Pavilion Diamonds Wrapped Backstitch Cross Stitch Using 2 strands of Threadworx 01097 Devilish, stitch the head and breast in Offset Ray stitch. Beak  Using Kreinik #4 Braid 221 Antique Gold, stitch the dividing line of the beak in wrapped backstitch.

Using Flair F588 Pumpkin, stitch the upper and lower beaks sections in Horizontal Pavilion Diamonds.

Using 2 strands of Burmilana 3892 Black, stitch the black mask in basketweave. Stitch the edge of the black mask in outline stitch.

Eye

Bead the eye using Sundance size 14 #401 Black beads with black beading thread doubled in the needle. Use a clear or white bead for the highlight.

Using Kreinik #4 Braid 221 Antique Gold, stitch the gold outline of the eye in Cross Stitches.

 

 

 

 

 

   

 

 

 

Wings Stitches: Pavilion Diamonds Variation Oriental Stitch Couching Using 4 strands of Threadworx 01097 Devilish, 4 strands of Threadworx 010421 Stepping Stone and one strand Kreinik #12 Braid 003 Red, stitch the upper part of the wing in Pavilion Diamond Variation.

Stitch the main part of the Pavilion Diamonds in the Threadworx 10197 Devilish (switch to Threadworx 010421 Stepping Stone for the darker shadowed areas at the bottom of the upper wing). Stitch the over 2 stitch at the bottom of each diamond in the Kreinik #12 Braid 003 Red.

Using 3 strands of Threadworx 10197 Devilish for the stitches diagrammed in gray and one strand of Kreinik #12 Braid 221 Antique Gold for the stitches diagrammed in gold, stitch the lower part of the wing in Oriental Stitch.

Gold Outline

Using one strand of Kreinik #4 Braid 221, couch one strand of Kreinik #12 Braid 221 for the gold outline of the wing
