February 10, 2019 FIFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME
Live, Love, and Serve in the Image of Christ
Jesus said to Simon, "Do not be afraid; from now on you will be catching men."
When they brought their boats to the shore, they left everything and followed him.
World Marriage Sunday 2019 — February 10 Almighty and eternal God, You blessed the union of married couples
so that they might reflect the union of Christ with his Church: look with kindness on them. Renew their marriage covenant, increase your love in them,
and strengthen their bond of peace so that, with their children, they may always rejoice in the gift of your blessing.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

FEBRUARY 16-17 SECOND COLLECTION The annual 2019 Collection for the Care of Aging and Retired Priests of the Archdiocese will take place on the weekend of February 16th and 17th. Your generosity to this collection expresses your gratitude for the many blessings received through the ministry of priests. Through your continued kindness we can be assured that they will be watched over and cared for in their retirement. These priests reside at Villa St. Joseph in Darby, Regina Coeli in Warminster as well as various other health care facilities where they continue to carry a message of hope to all by their lives of prayer and sacrifice offered for the people of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. They now depend on you for your prayers and support.

The entire parish community extends its sympathy to the families of
Victoria Di Mattia, Barbara McInnes, and Edward Wisniewski who entered into eternal life.
My friends in Christ:
FIRST RECONCILIATION
Please join me in congratulating our second grade children who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time this weekend, Saturday, February 9th. They were so excited to receive God’s mercy and forgivenessfor the first time in this beautiful Sacrament. We were blessed to have a large number of priests, who were available for our children and their parents. I also want to thank Sister Elizabeth and our second grade teachers and Mrs. Rawski and our second grade catechists, who prepared our children so well for this special sacramental celebration in their lives.
THE DISCIPLE MAKER INDEX SURVEY
It’s official! The Disciple Maker Index Survey (Parish Survey) begins this weekend and we need your help! Please help by completing the 10 minute survey as soon as possible.
• Go to www.disciplemakerindex.com • If you prefer, you can complete a paper survey rather than completing it on-line. You can obtain a paper copy in the Narthex/Parish Office. If you complete a paper copy, please place it in a sealed envelope and write “Parish Survey” on the front of the envelope. You can place the envelope in the collection basket, drop it off at the rectory or leave it on the tables in the entrances of the Church.
The survey will be available from February 9 through March 11. The survey will ask you to reflect on your own spiritual growth and provide feedback on our parish’s efforts to help you grow. All responses will be confidential and the parish will only receive summary-level information. We are trying to get the highest response rate possible to validate the results of the survey. This information will be invaluable to our Parish Leadership Team, our Parish Pastoral Council and our various ministries as we plan for the future and strive to be the best disciples we can be. We will receive the results this spring/summer at which time we will share with you what we have learned. Thank you for helping with this important project!

St. Jude School, 2018 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence
National Catholic Schools Week 2019 was a true history-making celebration for all of us
at St. Jude School! It was our fir st CSW as a Blue Ribbon School and we were St. Jude Proud from the Open House last Sunday straight through the week to Friday's Finale Family Day! Two special highlights marked the week-long celebration. First, our "All Student National Blue Ribbon Talent Show". Discovering the unique spirit and talent of each student and class and all of us as a team made for a fun, entertaining, and a great way to celebrate our Blue Ribbon Recognition! Our second highlight was our "Y oung Alumni Gathering" on Wednesday, January 30th, from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Sixty-two of our SJS alums braved the below-freezing temps and chilling winds to celebrate CSW at their favorite elementary school. Reminiscing and sharing memories, enjoying pizza, games, and catching up with friends made the night a success! Thank you to our priests, deacons, teachers, staff, HSA, Board Members, and parent volunteers for making all of the events of this week possible. We are continually amazed at the goodness and generosity of all who are so dedicated and committed to Catholic Education at SJS. May God bless each one!
Congratulations to our three 8th grade students, winners of the Knights of Columbus Essay Contest, who were recognized at Mass last Sunday. Hats off to our talented essayists: Emily Bruni, 1st place; Trinity Meehan, 2nd place; and Meghan Duffner, 3rd place! Thank you to the K of C, Father Devlin Council, for sponsoring this opportunity for our students.
Taking the bows at Archbishop Wood High School on Sunday, January 27th, were three more of our talented writers! Congratulations to Brendan Young, 4th grade, Mark Fusca, 8th grade, and Gianna Guerrelli, 8th grade, for their award-winning essays in the annual CSW Writing Contest sponsored by AWHS. We are St. Jude Proud!
Registration for new students opened on February 4, 2019. You are welcome to come, tour, and learn more about our National Blue Ribbon School! If you have questions about registration or about SJS in general, please call Sister Elizabeth at 215-822-9225 x 230.
For more information or to schedule a tour of St. Jude School, please contact Pat Kerwin, Advancement Director, 215-822-9225 x 251.
