“A L I V E A N D A C T I V E ”The Year of Saint Matthew

The 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time16.07.17.

(Sunday Readings: of year A : Breviary: Week iii

THIS SUNDAY’S MASSScripture: Isaiah 55:10-11

Psalm 64 :10-14

Some seed fell into rich soil, and produced its crop.

You care for the earth, give it water, you fill it with riches.Your river in heaven brims overto provide its grain.

And thus you provide for the earth:you drench its furrows, you level it, soften it with showers, you bless its growth.

You crown the year with your goodness,Abundance flows in your steps,in the pastures of the wilderness it flows.

The hills are girded with joy,the meadows covered with flocks, the valleys are decked with wheat. They shout for joy, yes, they sing.

Romans 8:18-23 Matthew 13:1-23

Intercession : Lord hear usResponse : Lord graciously hear us.

When an ambitious lawyer hears that a well-known judge has just died he quickly telephones his superiors to let them know he would be willing to take his place. Their reply is not slow in coming: ‘That’s fine with us, but you’d better check with the undertaker.’

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^A man was walking through a rough part of town when a beggar in threadbare clothes came over to him and asked him for £1.00. ‘What do you want the money for?’ asked the man. ‘’Is it to buy booze?’‘No,’‘Will you gamble it away?’‘No,’‘Then will you come home with me so I can show my wife what happens to a guy who doesn’t drink or gamble?’

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^A woman was examining an expensive jumper in a department store. She wanted to buy it but was put off by the price tag. Sensing that she could be persuaded into a purchase, the assistant wandered over ready to deliver her sales patter.‘Can I help you, madam?’ she inquired.‘Yes, this jumper’s a bit overpriced, isn’t it? I’ve seen similar garments in other shops for around sixty pound, yet this one’s priced at a hundred and ninety.’‘Well, you see,’ began the assistant, ‘there’s a reason for that. This jumper is of vastly superior quality. Feel the texture. The wool actually comes from a rare breed of albino sheep confined to a tine mountainous area of Mongolia. It’s a beautiful yarn.’‘Yes,’ replied the woman. ‘And you tell it so well!’
