In particular St. Isaac Joques worked among the Mohawk Native Americans in Canada and was able to make his way to the eastern entrance of Lake Superior about 1,000 miles inland. He was the first European to make that long journey. The Iroquois captured this missionary Jesuit in 1642 and imprisoned him for 13 months where he endured cruel tortures like cutting off his right thumb with the use of a sharp fish bone. This very painful tragedy would make it unacceptable for him to celebrate Mass. Finally the Dutch rescued him back to Canada. In 1646 he visited Auriesville, New York to negotiate peace with the Iroquois. More about the North American Martyrs next time.

GOOD NEWS ABOUT OUR 2ND ROSARY RALLY

Allow me to share with all the Parish the truly exceptional experience and the very effective time of prayer at our Parish last Sunday, Oct. 13 beginning at 3:00 pm.

Our Church was filled with members of our Parish Family and a large number of visitors from outside our Parish.

Once again a large group of our Children took part in leading all the Hail Mary prayers for the Joyful Mysteries. Their beautiful and strong voices brought wonderful responses from all in attendance. During the Sorrowful Mysteries the Ladies took the lead and they too had a prayerful response from the faithful present.

The extra blessing on our special day was the visit of Brother Emmanuel from Lebanon. His spiritual talk was moving in fact many went to the Sacrament of Confession. Some for the first time in a long time.

It was amazing to witness how well behaved and how attentive our young people were during all of the 2 hours or more being in the Church. I sat among them and they did not make any distractions from beginning to the end.

Finally the Men in attendance lead the Glorious Mysteries for the end of the Rosary. They did an amazing job and the experience of a holy time was present thanks to them.

Following the Rosary Pray Rick Maroon chanted the Litany to Our Blessed Lady and we all did the usual responses. The final benediction was in Arabic as we chanted our traditional hymn

Ya Omm Allah.

Many moved to the sunroom to see a video about the story of the Mystic, Veronica and a video about the ceremony of the Consecration of Lebanon to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This was a very moving experience for everyone.

On Monday I received phone calls from some of those who attended and they thanked us again and again for the day of prayer. Some also said it was like being in heaven for them.

May our prayer intentions of the Rosary be blessed.

May our prayer in Honor of Our Lady of Fatima’s miracle of the sun be worthy and pleasing to Her.

May all our Parish Community be blessed in a truly special way. Holy Mother keep us close to you.

Thank you God for this memorable Feast Day and for our spiritual experience.
