InstallationToinstalltheadapter:
1. InserttheCDintoyourCDorDVDdrive.
2. ForWindows8,clickTap to choose what happens to this disc intheupper-rightcornerofthescreen.
3. ClickSet up your Linksys Adapter.
If you do not see a pop-up menu for the CD, access Setup on the CDdirectly.ToaccesstheCD,performthefollowingstepsforyouroperatingsystem:
Windows 8
a. Type Computer at the main screen, then click Computer when itappearsintheApps list.
b. Double-clickyourCDorDVDdrive.
Windows 7 and Windows Vista
a. ClickStart,thenclickComputer.
b. Double-clickyourCDorDVDdrive.
Windows XP
a. ClickStart,thenclickMy Computer.
b. Double-clickyourCDorDVDdrive.
4. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish setting up your Linksyswirelessadapter.
NoteYouneedtorunSetuponlyoncetoinstallyouradapter.AfteryourunSetup,yourcomputerrecognizestheadaptereachtimeitisconnectedtoyourcomputer’sUSBport.

• Youroperatingsystem’sbuilt-inwirelessnetworksetup
Wi-Fi Protected Setup
To connect using Wi-Fi Protected Setup:
1. PresstheWi-Fi Protected Setupbuttononyourwirelessrouter,gateway,oraccesspoint.
2. Withintwominutes,pressandholdtheWi-Fi Protected Setupbuttononthesideofyouradapter forat least threeseconds.TheLEDflasheswhileconnecting,thenstayssolidwhentheconnectioniscomplete.

Wireless network configuration utilityIfyourcomputerhasawirelessnetworkconfigurationutilityinstalled,refertothatutility’sdocumentationforinstructions.

Windows 8After you have installed the adapter, move your mouse pointer to thelower-rightcornerofthescreen,thenclickSettings.Clickthewirelessnetwork icon .The Network menu opens from the right side of thescreen, showing you available wireless networks and your currentconnectionstatus.

New Wireless Connection
To connect to a different wireless network:
1. Moveyourmousepointertothelower-rightcornerofthescreen,thenclickSettings.
2. Clickthewirelessnetwork icon .TheNetwork menuopens,showingyouavailablewirelessnetworksandyourcurrentconnectionstatus.
3. Ifprompted,enteranyadditionalrequirednetworkinformation(suchaspassword).
Windows 7Afteryouhaveinstalledtheadapter,theWireless Network Configurationutilityiconappearsonyourcomputer’ssystemtray.(Ifyoudonotseetheicon,clicktheShow hidden iconsarrow inthesystemtray.)
Whenyourmousepointerhoversovertheicon,thestatusinformationofyourwirelessconnectionappears.
New Wireless Connection
To connect to a different wireless network:
1. ClicktheWireless Network Configurationutilityicon.Alistofavailablewirelessnetworksappears.
2. Selectyournetwork,andthenclickConnect.
If your network does not use wireless security, your computer nowconnectstothewirelessnetwork,andyouaredone.

3. EntertheWi-FiProtectedAccess(WPA/WPA2)passphraseortheWiredEquivalentPrivacy(WEP)key(dependingonyourtypeofsecurity),thenclickOK.
Thisscreenappearswhiletheadapterconnectstoyournetwork.Donotcancel,unlessyouwanttoendtheconnection.
Yourcomputerisnowconnectedtoyourwirelessnetwork.

6. Ifyouwanttosaveyoursettings,selectSave this network.
7. ClickClose.
TheSetNetwork Locationscreenmayappear.Thisscreenhelpsapplythecorrectsettingsforyourtypeoflocation.

1. Right-clicktheWindows XP Wireless Zero Configuration iconinyourcomputer’ssystemtray,thenclickView Available Wireless Networks.Awindowdisplaystheavailablewirelessnetworks.
2. Selectthenetworkthatyouwant,thenclickConnect.
Ifthenetworkuseswirelesssecurity,gotoStep4.Otherwise,continuetoStep3.
3. Click Connect Anyway to connect the adapter to your unsecurednetwork.Yourcomputernowconnectstothewirelessnetwork,andyouaredone.
4. If your network usesWired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) wireless security,entertheWEPKeyintheNetwork keyandConfirm networkkeyfields.IfyournetworkusesWi-FiProtectedAccess(WPA/WPA2)wirelesssecurity,enterthepassphraseintheNetwork keyandConfirm networkkeyfields.ClickConnect.
NoteWindowsXPWirelessZeroConfigurationdoesnotsupporttheuseofaWEPpassphrase.EntertheexactWEPkeyusedbyyourwirelessrouteroraccesspoint.
NoteIfyournetworkisusingWPA2security,makesurethatyouhaveinstalledtheUpdateforWindowsXP(KB893357),availableatwww.microsoft.com.

• Makesurethattheadapterisproperlyinsertedintoyourcomputer’sUSBport.
• ConnecttheadapterintoadifferentUSBport.
Your computer cannot communicate with the other computers on your wireless network.
• Makesurethatthecomputersarepoweredon.
• MakesurethattheadapterisconfiguredwiththesameWirelessNetworkName(alsocalledtheSSIDorServiceSetIdentifier)andwirelesssecuritysettingsastheothercomputersonyourwirelessnetwork.
