Scouting is a growing!

In Blackpool the number of young people in Scouts has

increased over the last few years by over 10%, working in the 20 groups we have right across the town - and, did you know that we are the largest co-ed youth organisa-tion in the UK? So how do we attract so many members? We get involved in lots of interesting and exciting things - here are a few'''.. For our younger members - play games; make things; help others; go on visits; meet new people; go outdoors; achieve badges. One week we could be cooking, the next making models and the week after trying out archery or climbing! For the older ones – camping, abseiling, canoeing, cav-ing, climbing, the list goes on and on. We also work on the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. So how old do you have to be to join? Both boys and girls can join in the fun: Beavers - 5¾ to 8 years of age Cubs - 8 to 10 years of age Scouts - 10 to 14 years of age Explorers - 14 to 18 years of age Older than that?

We have oppor-tunities for you too – are you fun loving, energetic, a creative thinker who wants to work with our teams to pro-vide fun, adven-ture and new challenges for the young people who attend the sessions? You need to be able to commit a little bit of your time, 1 night a week during term time is ideal, but we are very flexible. In addition there are occasional weekends to take part in trips, outings and other activities. In return we can offer full training, a great deal of fun and opportunities to be young again. No previous experience in Scouting is required, but you will need to undertake an enhanced CRB check and references. Remuneration is the standard rate for volunteers (£0 for the love of it !)
