The LHS ExperienceStudents at Lincoln High School are given many opportunities to expand their horizons and become well-rounded, well-informed global citizens. Strong academics are just the beginning. We also offer creative artistic opportunities, a full range of team and individual sports, and extracurricular social and academic activities. All of these opportunities lead to students who become lifelong learners who are invested in the communities they live in.
Throughout their high school career, LHS students are expected to:

At LHS, we offer a high school experience that will prepare your child to meet the challenges of the future successfully. Guided by our core values, beliefs and academic, social and civic expectations, our school community works every day to meet the needs of our students.
We have aggressively expanded our Advanced Placement offerings including the recent additions of AP Language and Composition, World History, Chemistry and Human Geography. Recognized by the College Board as an AP Honor Roll School for the past two years, we are proud of how we have strengthened rigor and opportunities for students.
Preparing students for college and careers is one of our most important expectations. Our academies provide students with real world skills in Design and Engineering, Journalism and Broadcast, Law, International Business, Sports Marketing and STEM fields. Our students meet with success at some of the best college and universities in the nation.
Supporting all learners is a priority and our graduation rate is over 90%. Our co-curricular and athletic programs are extensive and varied and offer students a chance to develop their own individual talents. LHS is a great place for your child!

Academic PlanA Lincoln High School diploma is the result of the successful completion of all required coursework. It is a demonstration that students have the knowledge and skills needed to meet LHS’s rigorous standards.
Required credits include:
• Four academic credits of English• Four academic credits of mathematics• Three academic credits of science• Two academic credits of social studies• One academic credit of U.S. history• Two academic credits of physical education• A half credit each of fine arts and civic responsibility
In addition to completing 22 credits, LHS students will complete an exhibition of a comprehensive research project in a subject of their interest and a portfolio of their best work throughout high school.

Personalized Education for Every StudentStudents are active, responsible participants in their educational development and planning at LHS. These Individualized Learning Plans (ILPs) are mapped academic plans and profile that reflect each student’s unique interests, needs, learning goals, and graduation requirements. Students revisit their ILPs throughout their high school careers, and become active, responsible participants in their educational development.
Honors and Advanced PlacementWe recognize that some students quickly grasp concrete and abstract concepts. Our Honors program offers these students the opportunity to take accelerated courses noted for their rigor and high academic expectations.
Students in this program require little structure and discipline. They are proficient in basic skills and are expected to work independently on reading, writing, research and problem solving assignments.
LHS offers 15 Advanced Placement courses, including Calculus, Psychology, Comparative Government and Politics, and Statistics. Even more AP classes are offered through our partnership with the virtual high school program.
Early Enrollment Program A joint venture of Rhode Island College and Lincoln High School, the Early Enrollment Program enables seniors to earn college credit and high school credit simultaneously for a course taken as part of their regular senior year program.
Running Start ProgramRunning Start is a program offered at the Community College of Rhode Island for high school students who have demonstrated academic achievement and maturity needed to enroll in college courses during their senior year. Seniors who wish to study at CCRI on a full-time basis during the day may be eligible to earn dual college and high school graduation credits.

College & Community Partnership Programs
Community College of Rhode Island ArticulationStudents can receive college credits from the Community College of Rhode Island for taking College Business and College Accounting in high school providing they complete and pass these classes, graduate from high school, attend the Community College of Rhode Island, and major in a related program of study. Students must complete and pass twelve credit hours or more at CCRI; six of these credits must be in a related program of study, and the second level of accounting must be taken before receiving credit for College Accounting.Students are also eligible for challenge exams at CCRI in Computer Toolbox, Speedwriting, and Microsoft Office Specialist for up to nine additional credits.
Roger Williams University ArticulationEleventh and twelfth grade students can receive 3 credit hours for the successful completion of the Criminal Justice, Forensic Science or Legal Studies courses. These credits are fully transferable to other universities.
Navigant Credit UnionThe Lincoln High School Business Department and Navigant Credit Union have established a community partnership whereas Navigant Credit Union will promote financial literacy by offering an incentive to students that enroll in Personal Finance. In addition, Navigant Credit Union will assist with organizing and funding field trips, guest speakers, FBLA competitions, opportunities for job shadowing/mentoring, and notification of part-time/summer employment opportunities.

The AcademiesDesign & Engineering AcademyStudents gain real world knowledge and experience about career pathways to Design and Engineering occupations. Students enroll in classes that explore various types of engineering careers including Civil, Mechanical, and Industrial engineering. They also investigate design fields including Industrial Design, Ergonomics, and Structure and Architectural Design.
International Business AcademyThis is a rigorous program that provides students with the experiences and education necessary for careers in national as well as international business organizations. The program puts an emphasis on business in an international context
and enhances written communication
and oral presentation skills. College students mentor LHS students with
a International Business Company research project.
Journalism and Broadcast Academy
Students get a strong foundation in journalism, including broadcast journalism, and communications. The JBA curriculum includes all aspects of career components in journalism, such as journalism ethics, news writing and reporting, interview and research skills, layout and design, set and lighting design, and broadcasting technology and occupations.
lincoln high schoolLaw AcademyThe Lincoln High School Law Academy prepares for an industry that employs over 2.4 million people each year. The program introduces students to the Criminal Justice world by providing rigorous curriculum combined with real world experience through the use of guest speakers from the industry and relevant field trips.
Sports Marketing AcademyThe Marketing Academy is a dynamic program which will prepare students with the hands on experiences and education necessary for the many fast paced and ever changing careers in Marketing. This program is designed to incorporate technology into the students’ skill sets, as well as enhance their written and oral presentation skills.
STEM AcademyLincoln High School’s Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Academy is a community of learners who share a passion for STEM topics and who are interested in pursuing STEM-based careers. Students focus their high school education on STEM, and
participate in career exploration and enrichment
activities. Students may enroll in the STEM Academy at
the beginning of their 9th, 10th, or 11th
grade year.
