Note from our Award Winning Editor...

Hello March!!!

We’ve got a giant spring in our step as we wave goodbye to winter. Hoorah for the new season and the fabulous new clothing range in the shops! If you can’t make it to the high street then we’ll bring the fashion to you. Our second annual Wirral Fashion Festival takes place on the 23rd of the month at the gorgeous Thornton Hall Hotel & Spa in Neston. Treat yourself to a 3 course gala dinner, 8 catwalk shows, and music by a Michael Buble Tribute act. Book now at www.lifestylemonthly.co.uk or email me direct. At the time of going to print, we were all recovering from the Liverpool Lifestyle Awards which was a phenomenal success and once again puts our wonderful city on the map. Guests from across the UK travelled up to celebrate our envied lifestyle. And at the risk of repeating myself, we are all winners in Liverpool; businesses, employees, advertisers and readers, we all contribute to the thriving, vibrant city that Liverpool has proudly become. This month we’re hopping with excitement as we are just one month away from our fourth birthday. We haven’t missed printing a single issue in 4 years, this is our 47th issue and, by jolly we’re proud of that achievement. To celebrate we will be holding an exclusive party in the city in July for 150 select guests... more details soon but this is one free ticket you should be clambering over. In the meantime though settle back and relax with the award winning number one magazine for the region. And a big congratulations to our contributors, Joy Lewis, who is expecting twins any day now and Laura Young who gave birth to Gracie Sophia. As a mum of five beautiful kids, it’s the absolute best thing in the world.

As an actor you must relish the controversial story line that was given to you in Coronation Street.Yes absolutely, it has certainly been the most challenging storyline that I’ve done as a TV actor, but it’s been a gift. The story line has gone rather well, even better than I expected!

When were you first told that Frank would have this story line with Carla Connor?I’ve known about it since the first meeting I had with Corrie, they offered it to me not long after I finished the Bill. I always wanted to play a role on Corrie, and I always quite fancied doing the villain. They explained everything to me so I knew what he was, how he was and what he was going to do to. I wanted to avoid being the clichéd baddie, I wanted to make him likeable and part of the street. I’m really pleased that I got the role of Frank correct as he is very very clever with a twisted mind and is a pure predator, but he is also romantic, heroic and charming. Alison King who plays Carla Connor did a lot of research for the storyline, were you also involved in that?Yes, but I’m coming at it from a considerably different angle, so for me it’s been more about understanding why people do this. It feels good to know that we got it right, the reaction from the rape crisis centres have been very positive.

Have you got negative reactions from people in the street? Especially now as you have been found not guilty!Nope, I’ve not had any hassle at all while doing this role. I think maybe the granny attacking with a swinging handbag in the street is a myth, the British public are not stupid they know what is real and what isn’t.

Now you have been killed off do you think you will miss Frank?I won’t miss frank, but i will miss the challenge of the part, it’s certainly been a journey! I’m proud to forever be a part of corries most controversial storyline. I have always been a huge fan of the show, I have loved every minute of it and I’ve made friends for life.

The next part of the story line is “who killed Frank” with a list of 6 suspects, will you be watching? Oh yes, but of course I already know who bumped me off! The “who done it” is going to be the tip of the ice berg for corrie, fans will be very shocked when they watch it unfold. Alot of people were very upset with the not guilty rape verdict, but thank goodness he got his comeuppance. As all the viewers of Corrie already know, evil never does triumph on the street!

It’s been reported that you’re taking a break from acting, what do you plan on doing next?Hmmmm sorry I can’t really say yet. There are lots of things in the pipe line, but I do want to have a bit of a rest, but there are so many opportunities that have come my way recently. What I can say is that I will be staying around Liverpool, I love this fantastic city, it’s my home. I’m not a Scouser by birth but my wife and my son are and the people have adopted me.

Andrew Lancel, aka Coronation Street’s villain Frank Foster has been at the centre of the soaps most controversial story lines

for years. He has now been killed off, but with a list of 6 suspects, who all have very strong motives for his death; the ghost of Frank Foster promises to be with us for a while longer! The “I killed Frank” T-shirts have been printed and a Facebook campaign to find the killer has already started. So who do you think did it? I did ask him, but he wouldn’t tell me!

Is he really that bad?

One of the many factors involved in the appearance

of ageing skin is the loss of its ability to reflect light (luminosity)Your complexion dulls, lines develop, the texture of your skin is uneven and wrinkles appear. All of these things make your face look sad and tired.A new concept treatment is a cross between fillers and mesotherapy, which redensifies skin deep down and restores its ability to reflect light, giving a fresh, youthful

appearance to the skin. The treatment involves multiple tiny injections of a product called Teosyal Redensity. Anaesthetic cream is used to numb the skin first. The key ingredients are: 1. Hyaluronic acid, which is a powerful water magnet, for optimal hydration of skin.2. Dermo-restructuring complex, which contains 8 amino acids, 3 antioxidants (to prevent skin

ageing and promote collagen growth), 2 minerals and 1 vitamin.

Injections can be given over the entire face, neck and decolletage. The treatment course is 3 sessions at 3 week intervals follwed by 2 sessions a year maintenance.A recent multicentre study showed an increase in complexion of 20% after the first session and 70% after the third.Light filling treatment with Teosyal Redensity is available from the Italian Stallion!

So Brea, you’ve reigned as Miss Southport since May last year, what have you and your tiara

done so far?One of the main things about the competition is that it helps to raise money for charity, so I have been spending a lot of time helping to organise events for local charities such as the Queens Court Hospice.Looking back on your reign so far, what is the best thing you’ve done?Definitely turning on the Christmas lights in Southport with Jack Rodwell, I used to love watching them when I was little, plus I’m a big Everton fan so meeting Jack was a huge bonus! After being crowned Miss Southport, you were entered straight into the semi-finals of Miss England, narrowly missing out on a place in the Grand Final. What was that like?It was a lot more intense and competitive. Some of the other girls took it a lot more seriously and had been

Many girls dream of being crowned a beauty queen. For Brea Carney-Jones, that dream became a reality when she was crowned

there before so they knew what to expect, it was quite scary at first but everyone was really friendly and helped you out. What did you have to do?As well as showing off different outfits, we also had to make a short video showing off a talent that we had.And yours was…?I was going to dance, but then I thought a lot of people would probably do that and I wanted to do something different. I have a lot of textiles work – outfits and designs – that I have made so I got them all together and talked through each one.I hear you also created an outfit especially for the Miss England competition?Yes! It was for the Eco-Wear part of the competition, we had to create an outfit using things we had at home. My interest in textiles definitely came in useful.I started with a little black dress and attached white and black bin bags to it, which I had ruffled using cotton, and then made a matching hat.Good news! After missing out on the finals last year by a point, you’ve been asked to take part this year! Are you excited?I am, I feel that I will be more relaxed this time, as I kind of know what to expect. Part of the final involves a two-day boot camp, so I am working really hard at the moment to get fit!The Lip Doctor Aesthetics in Maghull are sponsoring you for the final, how did that come about?Lisa and Fab who run it are really good family friends, and I asked them if they would sponsor me. I also really like their logo – big pink lips – as it stands out and I think it fits in really well with the competition and the beauty theme. What would you say you’ve gained from the experience as Miss Southport?Confidence is definitely the main thing. Before I entered Miss Southport I had never really won anything, I didn’t really do sport, and most of my achievements were academic, so it was nice to try something new. It has been a fantastic opportunity and has opened lots of doors. If you could do any job in the world, what would you do?I’d love to have a career in the fashion industry but I really enjoy law. I’m studying it at A Level and want to continue it at university. I hope to be a barrister.

Was it easy to step back into the role of Lightning McQueen for “Cars 2”?It felt like I was catching up with an old friend. I liked the idea of already having the character worked out, but taking him on a whole new adventure. Plus, I was really excited when John Lasseter decided he was going to direct the movie. It couldn’t have worked out better for me.

What can you tell us about the story of the sequel?“Cars 2” is an action-packed global adventure and we take the crazy “Cars” characters all over the world. There’s also a fun espionage element to the story with the excellent Michael Caine playing a British spy. The movie is a really fun ride.

Where in the world do the characters visit? The gang travels around the world to places like Paris, London, the Italian Riviera and Japan. The thing I enjoy the most about seeing these places is the way the Pixar animators “car”-ify the locations and the buildings. Instead of Big Ben in London, there’s Big Bentley. Different buildings and locations are made up of car parts. It’s amazing to see.

Are you a fan of spy movies and espionage?Yes, especially James Bond. I grew up with Roger Moore playing Bond and my favorite spy movie has got to be “The Spy Who Loved Me” because of the villain Jaws. Jaws was the guy with the metal teeth and he was such a great, iconic villain. I’ve never forgotten him.

What is it like to work with Pixar? As an actor, working with Pixar has

been one of the highlights of my career. The standard of excellence that they set is unmatched. It’s great to be a part of something that they’re doing because their movies stand the test of time. They take on universal themes, but tell stories in such a personal, unique and passionate way. You know what? They never cease to amaze me.

Were you surprised by the success of “Cars”?The success has been incredible. I was in Hawaii recently and an Argentinean family told me that their kids are fanatical about the movie. They watched the first “Cars” 50 times and they couldn’t wait to see the sequel. It’s incredible to work on movies that work their way into the culture the way Pixar movies do.

How much fun do you have in the recording booth? It’s a whole lot of fun in there. You go in with John Lasseter and feed off his energy and enthusiasm. He gives you the context of the scene and you go for it.

Do you get the chance to improvise in the sound booth? To be honest, they have everything scripted so there’s no need to improvise. I’ve added a few lines along the way, but not many. In the original movie, I blurted out the word “ka-chow” and they keep adding it into the script because they like it.

What can you tell us about the DVD and Blu-ray extras for “Cars 2”?There’s a lot of extra material on the discs, including a commentary from John Lasseter and some short films.

Are you a fan of 3D, too?Yes, I love it. Filmmakers are getting much better at 3D now and it’s

amazing to think that “Cars 2” will be released in this format on Blu-ray, too. As a viewer, I used to think, “Geez, how can they improve on HD?” Well, 3D does that. It’s a whole new world.

As a family man, are you looking forward to your son being able to watch “Cars 2” when he gets a bit older?Very much so. I’ve heard they’re building a “Cars” land at Disneyland, so I imagine that will be a fun destination for us in a couple of years.

What goes through your mind when you start working on a movie? The first thing that goes through my mind when I start work on a project is the hope that it will turn out well. You hope people will want to see the movie, enjoy it or be drawn to whatever it was that interested you in the script. Sometimes it works out, but sometimes it doesn’t. Thankfully, “Cars 2” didn’t miss the mark.

Although it’s only been open a matter of months, The Kasbah Café Baazar

has been described as a taste of Morocco.

Not only has Bold Street gained a new restaurant, in the form of the capacity eatery, Liverpool’s true foodies now have a new favourite when it comes to fresh, authentic and affordable food.

My dining partner and I visited the restaurant, which opened back in November, on a cold and wet Monday afternoon in a bid to get warm and

to fill our empty stomachs. As we entered, we felt already that we landed in Marrakech souks with exotic Oudour smell, unique decoration and the sounds of traditional Moroccan music that is played throughout. The décor is striking and adds to the Kasbah experience with several laterns, throws, mirrors and pieces of art dotted around the place, all of which can be purchased by customers.

Although the restaurant was rather busy with shoppers and nearby office workers coming in for their lunch, the overall atmosphere was pleasantly relaxed and there was a real mix of customers, both young and old, and even those who just wanted to enjoy a traditional mint tea and a pancake while reading a book or two.

To start, we decided to go for Moroccan salad platter and Moroccan bread which was. Fresh, colourful and delicious. For mains, we were spoilt for choice but after much deliberating, I chose Tagine

de Fez Lamb tagine with prunes and apricot while my rather fussy dining partner enjoyed moroccan spiced Chicken Brochette, which comes with salad and a choice of saffron rice or fries, or both! That’s one thing I really liked about our dining experience - whatever your preferences are, the staff and chefs are prepared to make dishes to your specific requirements and that?s a really nice touch.

To finish, we chose the Baklawa after spotting a couple of the table next to us enjoying it just moments before. The texture was delicious and it was the perfect end to our meal, leaving the pair of us full to the brim. The entire meal was a hit and as we left, we are looking forward to returning soon.

oozed richness and was a delight but enough was enough. My friend had the chocolate fondant and to end the perfect night we were given even more chocolate.Thoroughly spoilt,, we made our way to the roulette table to play a few games, which didn’t end to our advantage. One of the beautiful things about Liverpool is the position on the

waterfront. One of the finest restaurants happens to be perched just on it, Leo Casino. You don’t need to be a member of the casino to dine here, and it really is an excellent way to enjoy the scenery. Seated by the window you actually feel as if you are on a cruise ship.Having undergone a major refurbishment, the casino offers something for everyone. Leading up the vast sweeping staircase into the gaming room, you can almost feel the excitement of gamers with their chips on the roulette table. Walking past we made our way to the bar area, where champagne cocktails seem to be the order of the night at the weekend. The restaurant is intimate, with covers for 60 people. No sooner had we settled into the plush armchairs we were given the ample menus and our champagne flutes were topped up with a generous smile from our waitress.

There are a round 6 dishes in each section, each tantalising. I opted for the Salmon Duo, citrus and garlic infused slamon fillets, home cured gravalax and pannacotta, while my friend had the Terrine of Confit Duck and Sauteed Foie Gras. For mains I had the fillet steak, absolutely delicious, the steak knife sliced through it like warm butter. Accompanying was a bearnaise sauce and side order of pancetta cabbage, sauteed potatoes and spinach. My friend was more adventurous and tried the pan seared sea bass with fresh clams and a saffron linguine, prawn and chive sauce. The plate was empty which was a good sign.In between the courses more champagne flowed and we chatted to the people on the next table, the ambiance was fantastic, there was an air of excitement, everyone there was out to have a good time. The music set the scene, the dress code was relaxed, though some chose the more glamourous option, either way you felt comfortable and relaxed. For desert I opted for the dark chocolate and hazelnut tart, but my eyes were too big for my bulging stomach and i had to leave half, it

From the moment you entered Jamie’s Italian in Liverpool One two things struck you. It was jam packed and to

everything was cool and calm, immediately indicating everyone knew what they were doing. Emma was our waitress, she was both chirpy, courteous and extremely offay with everything on the menu including the Daily Specials. My dining partners were Neil Woods from Lifestyle, Dan Quayle (not from former American President hopeful) and Craig Philips. We got under starters orders with a massive cured meat platter which was great to sit and share, while we waited on a fish soup, squid, marinated sardines with garlic, lemon, parsley and chilli, they were my favourite of all the starters, meat plater, and all the other plates went back well cleaned and mopped up with Homemade rosemary Focaccia and Sour dough breads, which come with extra virgin olive oil and aged balsamic.Onto the mains, Craig went for a dish he had at another of Jamie’s restaurants Ossobucco Milanese, this is an Italian Classic, using British Veal slow cooked overnight with tomatoes, saffron wine and Herbs, then served on a soft Polenta Bianca Italy’s answer to very creamy mash, it was tender and seasoned to perfection.Dan went for an Angus Sirloin Steak, again well aged Beef served with a Traditional Garnish of grilled mushrooms and fresh peppery Watercress, he also had a side order of The Famous Polenta Chips with Rosemary Salt and Parmessan.Neil had a Flash Grilled Feather Steak , this is a Steak pounded flat with sage, prosciutto ham, this was both tasty and very tender, Neil had a side order of the house Posh Chips with Truffle Oil and Parmessan and they are as delicious as they are posh.I went for a signature dish of Crab and Squid Ink Risotto, what tastes and textures, fresh picked Devonshire Crab cooked in Risotto Rice topped with a lemon and herb crumb.Well and truly stuffed, Emma persuaded us to try some puddings, Inc a very light cheese cake made from a Ricotta Cheese mix topped with Candied Citrus fruits, The Ji Warm Brownie what a combination, Chocolate, Raspberry and Armaretto all in one Brownie with Vanilla Icecream, and a Peach and Almond Tart that came topped with whipped you hart and honey. All washed down with some ice cold Italian beers.Jamie’s Italian was two floors of very happy customers, and thought to myself Jamie Oliver is world famous and the food in his Liverpool One Restaurant lives up to his highly acclaimed world wide reputation. Can’t say I saw any Naked Chefs in there Though, much to Neil’s Disappointment ! ! !

Set just around the corner from M&S in Formby and the fantastic aroma meets you as you walk up to the

entrance. We were greeted by Jay, the owner. Zyka is a medium sized restaurant with comfortable booths for those who like a romantic private touch.Myself and Sheffield Utd’s star goalkeeper Steve Simonsen were shown to a booth, were we settled down to some poppadum’s and dips and an ice cold Kingfisher beer.We had a selection of starters Including an amazing Goan prawn in a creamy mildly spiced coconut sauce, tandoori prawns and lamb chops plus the best seasoned Sheesh Kebabs I’ve tasted in a long time and oh, a couple of onion Bhajis for good measure, thank God I’d starved myself all day.For the main course I went for the house special Meat Aloo Millijill a fairly hot Lamb dish, very tender with potato, green chilli, peas, onion and green peppers highly flavoured with the added texture of Chic Peas.Steve had a King Prawn Balti and those really are King Prawns the size of a mini lobster. Again highly flavoured and beautifully spiced but not too hot. Jay, the owner, knowing I was a fan of traditional curry’s also served us up a Chicken Dish on the bone, which is exactly how I cook my curries. You have got to try it, it’s called Shahi Murghi Bhuna and really is a fantastic tandoori cooked chicken which is

then cooked in Bhuna Spices. All the side orders are cooked to order. Takka Dhall, the Great Indian Lentil Dish, was sooo moreish I found myself, despite being full at the end of my meal, dipping the remainder of my Tandoori Roti bread into the bit that remained in my dish. Tandoori Roti is the bread I nearly always order as it’s thinner than naan bread, thicker than a Chapatti and cooked on the side in a Tandoor Oven. Please give it a try as an alternative to the aforementioned. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I do. The Garlic Naan that Steve went for packed a ferocious punch. I don’t think there was going to be much loving going on in the Simonsen household that night. No doubt Steve will be popping back for a Garlic Naan on a regular basis.Zyka has been opened for 4 years now. The Head Chef has cooked on London’s World Famous ‘’Brick Lane’’ in The East End and you can tell. It may be tucked away a bit but it has become a favourite Celeb haunt - both for its seclusion and high standards of Indian food.Full marks to the attentive, waiting staff who know the menu inside out and are very helpful when you ask about a dish you may not have seen before ,Go Check It Out. You will really enjoy the Zyka experience. Zyka means Taste and that is exactly what you will get – great taste delivered to the highest of standards.

Boy band heartthrob Dane is a multitalented English R&B singer, songwriter DJ and record producer. He found fame with the

international success of boy band Another Level in the late 1990’s early 2000’s when he released seven singles all reaching the top 10. Not happy to end it there and enjoy the fruits of his labour, he then went on to have a successful career as a solo artist working with Victoria Beckham and the True Steppers. More recently he has reappeared on our TV screens to entertain us with Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Come Dine With Me. I managed to track him to find out what he’s working on now.

Hi Dane, by doing Celebrity Big Brother it hurtled you right back into the lime light, is this why you went on the show?Yes, I really wanted it to kick me back into working. I had stopped working totally for a while and I had a few talks about doing various projects. I really wanted to get back into presenting because it’s something I have always been quite good at and enjoy.

Did Big Brother give you the boost you needed?Yep, Big Brother gave me a bit of a confidence boost. The people in that house really helped me. I’ve been through some weird things in the last few years that

have kicked me in the teeth a bit. So I think that I’m going to get back out there working again.”

So what are you currently working on?I have two major projects on the go at the moment, but both are quite different from each other, DDA Management and Knuckleup.

Wow, so tell me about DDA Management firstI started the company two months ago; I thought it was the right way for me to go as I know so many people who work behind the scenes in the entertainment world. And having spent the last ten years living in and around the scene myself, I thought I would be the perfect person to help other people become successful.

How’s the company going so far?Extremely well, especially considering it’s such a young company. I have been really busy, I have already signed Emily Scott, the Australian model who appeared on I’m a Celebrity. Katie Price has also contacted me regarding one of her models, so it’s all go at the moment and very exciting! I have lots of other celebrity names ready in the pipe line to sign with me, but I can’t give you their names yet, so all I can say is watch this space!

So what’s Knuckleup? It’s Mixed Martial Arts, and is one of the fastest growing and most explosive sports in the UK. Knuckle Up is committed to showcasing British MMA talent and promoting it to a wider audience. We have been going for a few years now and it is gaining momentum month by month. It’s myself and my business partner. I do the presenting, interviewing and promotions side of things.

So it’s basically the British answer to UFC.Yes, but what makes us different is that we also promote professional female fights, which to my knowledge we are currently the only company in Europe so far to do this. We are also opening a MMA gym soon in Bath. We are trying to get as my kids involved from the local community as possible. Martial arts is a great discipline for children, it gets them off the couch and keeps them out of trouble. Activities like tae kwon do, kung fu, and aikido are a fun way for both boys and girls to achieve fitness and focus. In the long run it teaches self-control, respect and discipline, three things that are sadly amiss in today’s society.

That sounds like a great idea; do you think we’ll see one of those gyms in the North West?Yes definitely, we plan on rolling it out across the whole country. We have already hosted a few fights in Liverpool which proved very popular, so expect to find one of our gyms there soon.

MIXING IT UP

There's no dilemna in serving up drinks at a party when you ask for the help of Zest Mixology. As editor, Amanda Moss, discovered when they came to her house to serve some cocktails.

Set up by Murdo MacLeod, a Spirits Trainer for Bacardi, the company will set up a bar with a very juicy bartender in the comfort of your home or venue of your choice.

Murdo has travelled the UK training in excess of 5,000 bartenders, he says. "This allowed me to connect with a network of quality bartenders/mixologists for any social gathering. I spotted a gap in the market for a company to provide themed mobile event bars and charming, award winning mixologists for any gathering, private or corporate. We now cover the UK all year round and Ibiza from May-October each year."So why chose Zest? Murdo says, " We add a sparkle and wow factor to events, so that the host can relax and spend every minute with their guests - comfortable that they are receiving a first-class drinks service.” We supply a complete solution, mixologists, mobile bar, menus, glassware, equipment and all the alcohol and ingredients needed, but we are flexible, if the host wants to supply the alcohol, that’s fine with us. All our staff are charming entertainers that have huge charisma, they are happy to pick up a microphone and teach the room how to make a Cosmo (just for fun)."Zest Mixology is true to its word and came to my house just before Christmas. The bartender was polite and charismatic, he set up the bar in the blink of an eye and before we could say "Mojito please, "

he was chopping mint and squeezing limes. The menu was fantastic and dazzled the guests, there was enough to go round and a throughly good night was had by all. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

of the colours used to create this particular look.

First off I used eyeshadow primer potion in Sin, followed by ‘Sellout’ all over the eye, right up to the brow bone, then I used ‘Last Call’ over the eyelid – right into the corner and along the lower lashes (use a small flat brush for under the eye), with a soft rounded brush take ‘Ecstacy’ into the socket and gently blend it out and round. Using UD 24/7 liner in ‘Uzi’ go along the upper lash line approx. ¾ way in and close to the lash line as possible on the lower lashes and smudge both lines with a flat brush and of course follow with lashings of mascara – Benefit’s badgal in black was used here. For the face I used Philosophy’s ‘The Present’ primer with Diorskin nude foundation, along with Benefit’s ‘Highbeam’ across the top of the cheek, just under the eyes and across the temples. On the cheeks I went for a soft effect with Sleek’s ‘Rose Gold’ blusher finished with a pinky toned lip gloss – Dior’s Addict gloss in ‘pretty rose’ was used for this shot.

So there you have two very different but very striking makeup looks and hopefully easy to follow guides to achieve these yourself. Practice makes perfect remember, and I am only an email away for any questions or makeup coaching.

any of us will have either watched or seen pictures of the Grammy’s and notably Adele, who has also graced the front cover of US Vogue this month ( shot

by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott) and as usual she looks absolutely stunning. The makeup may be very simple but is quite often one of the hardest looks to actually achieve as it includes very retro and bang on trend black flick liner. To achieve this look you need to keep your foundation matte (try Clarins Evermatte, Bare Minerals matte, Chanel matte lumiere or Maybelline dream matte mousse), then lightly contour just under the top of the cheekbone followed by a soft rose gold blush along the cheekbone itself (this is too be done lightly as the effect is quite subtle ( try Sleek’s contour kit and blush for this). Now the eyes are a bit trickier…… go over the whole of the eye with a light colour ( I like Urban Decay’s ‘Virgin’ from the NAKED palette) then going across the top of the socket using Urban Decay’s ‘Buck’ ( also from NAKED palette). Now for the liner – a good way to do this is to use tape- imagine a line from the corner of your nose to the outer corner of your temple………this is your line to follow (the tape will ensure your line stays straight till you are well practiced at this).

Using a small angled brush apply black liquid or gel liner flicking it up onto the tape (start from the inner corner of the eye with a thin line then go over it gently widening it from towards the middle of your eye. Once the liner is dry, gently remove the tape and go over any gaps – MAC, Illamasqua, L’Oreal and Urban Decay all do great gel/liquid

liners. Follow up with curled lashes and lashings of mascara – Dior’s New Look mascara is fabulous for this look. Adele always has amazingly defined brows so don’t forget those (think 1940/50’s rather than scousebrow!!) my favourites are Benefits Browzings or Diego Della Palma’s brow pencil. Finally finish with the lips – try MAC’s lip liner in stone with Urban Decay’s lipstick in Rush.

Another massive trend for this spring/summer is colour……..thankfully!! And in particular purple is the colour of the moment with many brands including purple in the new collections. Now I have too admit I am a bit of an Urban Decay fan and many of my looks are achieved using UD shadows, there are many alternatives but at least you will get an idea

Bar Review: twentyfive

SUPER STYLISH: twentyfive, Beetham Plaza ,Liverpool

Sitting in The Plaza sippinga cosmopolitan is the perfect way to spend any Saturday evening”

People reading this may mistakeme for Carrie Bradshaw sippingher favourite cocktail in NewYork, however its myself sippingmy favourite cocktail atLiverpool‟s newest and moststylish Champagne and Cocktailbar „twentyfive‟ in Beetham Plaza.I arrived at the lavish venue after ameal at The Bar & Grill, where Ihad been celebrating my friend‟sbirthday and was so shocked I hadnot heard about or visited the placebefore. This really is a littlehidden gem! Located in thebusiness district of the city,Beetham Plaza is just offBrunswick Street. It is onlyminutes away from the cities toprestaurants Bar and Grill and SanCarlo and a little stroll away fromLiverpool‟s busiest nightspotNewz Bar.We graced the red carpet and I wastaken back by the beautiful decorand the overall ambience of thebar. The venue has a cosy, intimate feel and straight away youfeel at home, with gentle chilledout music playing which picks upas the night progresses. We were greeted by a friendlyAustralian Barman and ordered around of cocktails from theirmenu.I opted safe and went for my usualCosmopolitan however my friendswent for the more adventurousones such as „Grey Goose LeFizz‟, „Hoochie Coochie‟ and„Symp-honey‟.We decided to stay seated at thebar as the venue started to getbusier and busier as we were in theperfect place to people watchperched at the end of the bar, however, there was numerouscomfy chairs and tables available

and a few secluded spots forcouples. The bar attracts a glamorouscrowd ranging from couplespopping in a quiet cosy night withtheir partners, to small groups ofstylish boys and girls starting thenight off in style with champagneand cocktails before heading downthe road to Newz Bar & otherclubs. By 10:30pm the venue wasbuzzing. The music had becomelivelier and there was a greatatmosphere in the bar as thebarman were showing off theirflaring skills.I decided to let my hair down andwas persuaded by the charismaticbarman to opt for a differentcocktail as he had made 3 Cosmo'salready! He asked me what typeof spirits I like and if I preferredcreamy of fruity cocktails. He made me a „Thrilla in Vanilla‟cocktail and it took me back to myyouth eating refresher bars on theway home from school! Theflavours were amazing and it wentdown far too easily!!By 11:30pm the venue started toquieten down as the groups ofgorgeous girls and boys madetheir way to various nightclubs, which left the people opting for aquieter night out remaining. Butthis is when the real fun started!

Back to the cocktail menu, and nextthing I knew I had been roped intogetting behind the bar and makingmy own cocktail to the amusementof my jealous friends! Afterdeciding on a cocktail named afterevery girls favourite shoe designer, Iattempted my first „LouboutinsSoul.‟ Under the watchful eye ofour bartender, in went theingredients (a little heavy on theGrey Goose), a little shake, a littlestare an done! – the best cocktail ofthe night! Well that may be a littlebiased! At 1am, the barman advised it waslast orders and I couldn‟t believewere the night had gone! Whatstarted off as going for a quickcocktail in a bar I had never heardoff ended up turning into the mostfun I‟d had in a long time and mynew favourite hotspot!Forget Sex and the City.............twentyfive is definitely hidden gemin the city!

JHi Jenny, congratulations on your wedding last summer, how is married life treating you? Do you find it has changed you at all?I absolutely Love, Love, Love being married! My husband is fantastic and married life is great. I feel much happier, much more secure and grounded in all areas of my life, and it just keeps getting better and better every single day! In case you haven’t caught on yet, I’m really happy with my new husband!

Now that you are a successful TV presenter, do you plan on doing any more presenting in 2012?Yes very much so that’s definitely on the to do list and always will be, I love TV presenting, I’ve taken to it like a duck to water, plus let’s face it, it is a really great opportunity to chin wag and get all the gossip all day which I just love!

You have interviewed lots of famous people through OK! TV, who was your favourite, and who was your most memorable?I don’t really have a favourite, but the most memorable was Pamela Anderson, it was quite strange because she was about to enter the big brother house and she was more nervous than me!

As the presenter of the cult make under TV series Snog Marry Avoid, is there anybody who you would just love to get your hands on and make under? Oh I couldn’t possibly say! I don’t want to point the finger as I might get it pointed back at me! I have to admit that I could do with a make under myself sometimes!

What in your opinion is the worst make up crime too much slap, too much fake tan or something else? What’s your advice for make up?Worst make up crime is when someone is getting their foundation the wrong colour. Do you know what I mean? When somebody has a really brown or orange face and everywhere else is white, it just looks like a mask! Fake tan is really in fashion now which is a good thing as it is sooooo much healthier for your skin than going and spending hours on the sun bed or lying in the sun all the time. So my advice for make up is go for the fake tan, but always make sure it is even and streak free. Start off with a mild glow and you can build the tan up from there!

Now you have appeared in “Urban and extreme sports” for Channel 4’s Famous and Fearless, has it turned you into an adrenalin junkie? Are we going to see you throwing yourself out planes next?Oh I’ve got no plans to throw myself from planes in the near future, but I am looking forward to hitting the beach this summer in Ibiza and getting my adrenalin fix by taking part in lots of water sports there!

You must have been proud of yourself once your conquered your fears and did it though?Do you know what, it’s a bit of a weird one because I’ve not watched the show back and the abseil itself kind of went a bit weird. I blanked out for a bit because I was so absolutely petrified, I don’t actually remember doing it so I won’t believe I’ve done it until I watch it. Well when we watched it in the [Liverpool] Echo Arena, we kind of watched in on the screen but you couldn’t really see what was going on and you couldn’t hear it either, so

A purrrrfect chat with ex Atomic Kitten,

JENNY FROST

when I finally get round to watching it back I might feel proud of myself then.

Were you disappointed when you didn’t win because you were at the top of the leader board most of the way?I was disappointed when I didn’t win, but I think it’s called karma because I did kind of take Kelly out on a bike!

That’s fair enough! You always look really good and as you are seen as a fashionista who has been dressed by all the designers from the high street to Dior, who is your favourite to wear? That’s a difficult one as every season I have different favourites depending on what they have released, but mostly I follow the brilliant Stella Mccartney for designer wear, and if I’m in a hurry on the high street I visit H and M as they are bang on trend. I always seem to find myself in there having a browse through the rails, plus they have everything under one roof so I can get something for all the family in one place.

So is H&M your must-go-to to shop?Definitely the best place to visit on the high street as far as I’m concerned. The pricing is super competitive and they always have the latest fashion trend. You can buy regularly there and keep your wardrobe up to date without having to feel guilty about putting too much of a dent in your bank balance.

Do you have a particular wardrobe staple that you simply can’t live without?Oh that’s easy, I’m currently living in my All Saints leather biker jacket this winter, I love it, its very trendy, it goes with everything I can dress it up or down and best of all, it’s really comfy.

Cocabelle is a quirky stylish Liverpool lass. Her brand new single ‘Never Wana

See You Smile’ is a well written track that leaves a lump in the throat every time

I hear it. She has already played at Glastonbury and has now gained the support of

Radio 1, so it seems that she’s on the right track to become something big in 2012!

Hi Cocabelle I have just listened to your new track, it was fantastic, for those who have yet to hear it what can you tell us about it?Hey, I’m really glad you like the song, it’s getting lots of really good reviews and I am very proud of it, but, girls especially, it is one of those songs that you might put on whilst you’re eating a tub of ice cream and feeling sorry for yourself ! No, just kidding, it’s a beautiful song, with powerful lyrics and a great melody, it’s full of emotion and a song I think people can relate to, it’s not your stereotypical pop song, so if anyone hasn’t heard it yet, give it a listen, it’s easy on the ears and you can get caught up in the lyrics!

How would you describe your style of music?Hmmmm tricky one, it’s a mixture of a few styles, pop music but with a rockier edge and quite soulful vocals. I grew up with lots of different styles of music and have had a lot of different genres influencing me, so I kind of try to bring it altogether in the hope that I’ll create something a bit different that will appeal to a lot of people.

Do you write your lyrics bases of your own experiences?Yes definitely, when I write lyrics I find it’s much easier to write about something that’s happened, or something I’ve felt or been through, for some reason I find tough experiences I’ve been through easier to write about.

You have already been tipped to being a big name in 2012 for this track, how does it feel?It feels great to hear people saying that, I have been working really hard for a long time and I would love for 2012 to finally be my year. It won’t change me though, I can be sure of that, I have lots of people around me that wouldn’t let that happen!

Was playing at Glastonbury in 2010 mind blowing?Yes, it was one of the best experiences of my life! I was on a stage near the healing fields and was sometimes playing the same time as some huge artists, so I got a lot of cool people, regular festival goers looking to discover something new and interesting.

Liverpool must have something in the water to be constantly giving the world talented musicians, do you think coming from here has helped you?Coming from Liverpool has definitely been an inspiration, my family are all big Beatles fans and I listened to them a lot when I was young and still do now. My granddad and his best friend used to tell me all sorts of stories about going to the Cavern Club at lunch time and even hanging out with The Beatles after gigs. One of my first gigs was actually at The Cavern too, which was pretty cool. Lots of people say you have to be in London to make it, but I disagree, I love going to London but I’ll be sticking with Liverpool!

I love the name Cocabelle, how did you get it?I actually used to be lead singer of a band that I put together called “The Cocabelles”, we were quite retro, and I always loved the old bands like The Ronettes, The Shirelles etc, so I wanted something like that and tried different things until eventually I came up with The Cocabelles, which I loved and then when the band ended I had already developed quite a good fan base and loved the name, so went for Cocabelle :) and that’s it, it’s sometimes mispronounced which can be funny at times!

Digestive ProblemsMost digestive problems start in the kitchen, and the kitchen is also the place where they can be dealt with most effectively. If you have a clear understanding of the relationship between specific foods and digestion, a well stocked spice rack, a collection of fresh herbs, you’ll be able to dish up an effective prescription for digestive restoration and health.

It’s only in the last few years that we have

begun to really appreciate the delicate balance that should exist inside our gut. The Credo that all bacteria are bad is finally being shifted toward an understanding that the bacteria of our gut are both necessary and hardworking. A good diet should help maintain the balance of bacteria in our intestines, but instead our digestive systems are often expected to cope with fats, caffeine, alcohol, and chemicals while being deprived of the fibre and nutrients they need. This mismanagement results in a spectacular array of maladies, ranging from mild dyspepsia and irritating symptoms of recurrent malaise to chronic constipation, ulcers, gallstones, irritable bowel syndrome, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis and fatal cancers. Diseases as diverse as arthritis and cancer, as well as problems of the gut itself, are now seen as having their roots in the pore absorption of nutrients and the inefficent elimination of toxic wastes (were talking number twos) which accompany almost all digestive problems.

Despite the diversity of these conditions, and the battery of treatments used to overcome each one. THERE IS ONE TREATMENT THAT COULD PREVENT AND CURE THEM ALL. This treatment is simple, safe, cheap and above all effective but

Some time ago, I was having a midlife meltdown. Happy to have thriving business and do the suburban wifey,

mumsy role, I’d sort of accepted my place in the Universe. However, hard, hard work and almost no energy had resulting in my backside growing to the size of a Nissan Micra. This was reaffirmed by my hubby’s cutting remarks after he caught me creeping across a fully-lit landing at 3am in the knack – similar to a bunny caught in a cars headlights (but with more meat on the bones). I retaliated “My bum may be fat, but at least I’ve got my own hair!”

Of course, my knee jerk reaction was to hit the local gym at Crabwall Manor; pedalling frantically on my Life Cycle and contemplating my own self worth and purpose. In fact, I concluded that although I enjoyed my work and personal life, I’d been on a permanent and excessive full speed merry-go-round; always pushing forward to make everyone else’s world peachy - at the expense of my own.

I’d spend my 20’s jet-setting around the world

under the guise of a trolley dolly, and in a blink, traded it in for a husband, two children, a horse, and a career as a Colonic Hydrotherapist - all without any adjustment period. I realised that I was trying to keep all my plates spinning in the air without comprehending why I was doing it. Worse still, I was working crazy hours that were suffocating what I loved to do best, which was motivating people to lead healthier lives.I decided to readdress this imbalance by exploring how your mind works, why you do what you do and what’s needed to shape your potential experiences. And after many years of studying, applying myself plus a sabbatical in France, I learned how to reposition my life goals and others too.

I have now achieved clarity of mind and focus which I never thought possible. Five years on, I’m incredibly optimistic about my future, I’m far healthier, and if I could sell my energy to the National Grid, I’d be a wealthy woman. So where am I going with this? Well, I found that sometimes when we can’t forge ahead and we’re losing ourselves in our lives, we must drift laterally... that is, we must try a different approach, evaluate, change what’s not working and try again.

I’ve also realised the main ingredient for my success is ACTION as it always gives me a result. Sometimes action allows me to move ahead and sometimes it teaches me a new lesson, but it’s never a waste of time. So if you can see where I’m coming from, it’s time you too got your bum out of its comfort zone, and give your true dreams a chance. You’ll be amazed at how your life will change for the better.

Hi Welcome to the March addition of the Lifestyle Magazine. And what a month we are having! We

have sponsored the Liverpool Lifestyle Awards, starting up our new acoustic nights in the basement bar and to top it off I am off to Wembley to see the mighty Reds in the League Cup Final.

Firstly the Lifestyle Awards where the team and myself will have a table and be presenting one of the awards on the night. We are really looking forward to the event which is to be held at the Crown Plaza. On the night we are going to be serving our own brand of coffee after dinner and giving every guest a complimentary Ludus Priority Card. These cards are hot of the press so will be a first on the night. It is geared up to be the awards event of the year and the list of those in attendance looks fantastic. I will report back next month with pictures and news from the night.Next we are launching a new acoustic night in the basement bar. It’s funny we have been open since December and obviously our ground floor bar is open from 11 each day serving food, coffees, beers, wines etc and can be seen from the busy street that is Bold St. Yet our downstairs area

is still very much “Liverpool’s best kept secret.” It really is 1920s Chicago decor wise in the intimate basement bar that holds about 80. We have now opened it up for hire for events, networking etc...and we have the whole swing vibe going on. Some big companies have booked in for out of office afternoons as we have all the screens set up, so it’s very versatile. Check out our site for news on nights and events.

I want to offer my best wishes to my younger brother Kane also this month. He is about to open “Central Perk” Coffee Shop which is the first in the North West of England. All fans of the TV hit show Friends will know it as the main hang out for the likes of Joey, Chandler and the gang and it was a big part of the show. Well its opening in April over the other side of town on Hatton Garden. The plans look great and the place is about to give Liverpool a slice of the big apple very soon. I will keep you posted.Lastly it’s time to make my first trip to the new Wembley to the place us Liverpool fans used to call Anfield South (well in the good old days when we won cups for fun every year). I for one cannot wait and just hope we don’t take Cardiff for granted. Come on the lads.

Until next time, Luke Russell – Ludus Lounge Bar.

and it’s set to be a great event. So come on, pull your Sport Relief socks up, enter the Mile and do something amazing!”

Sport Relief has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to rise to the challenge. Last September, David Walliams started Sport Relief off with an epic splash when he completed The BT Sport Relief Challenge: Walliams vs The Thames. Despite battling a nasty bacterial bug and bitingly cold water, David swam a staggering 140 miles and has so far raised over £1million for Sport Relief. And that’s not all; there will be even more amazing celebrity challenges to get the whole nation geared up for the Sport Relief weekend!

The Sport Relief Weekend kicks off on Friday 23rd March when everyone gets active, has fun and raises cash at home, at work or at school; before settling down to watch a night of top Sport Relief TV on BBC One. There will be even more BBC radio, online and TV coverage throughout the weekend to keep you entertained. By the end of the weekend everyone will be raring to go, when the whole nation comes together to take part in the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 25th March.

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is back – and it’s coming to Liverpool! The city is set to host its third Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 25th March and needs local people to come together and show their support by entering now at www.sportrelief.com. As one of the UK’s biggest fundraising events, Sport Relief brings the entire nation together to get active, raise cash and change lives – so it’s time to dust off those trainers and enter right now.

Setting off from Echo Arena, the Mile will take in the sights of the Liverpool waterfront and is set to be an incredible event. Entrants don’t have to be sporty to take part, but can choose to complete 1, 3 or 6 miles knowing that all the money raised will help to change the lives of people living unimaginably tough lives right here on our doorstep, across the rest of the UK and in some the world’s poorest countries.

Councillor Wendy Simon, Liverpool City Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture and Tourism said: “The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is here and it’s your time to shine. From teeny-tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock there’s something for everyone on the big day. This is the third Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Liverpool

Leading North West letting agent predicts exciting year for the buy-to-let market in 2012

One of the North West’s leading letting agents believes the buy-to-let market will flourish in 2012 thanks to low interest rates and more available ways of lending. Julie West, MD of Zest Lets, says that many of her clients have already begun to expand their portfolios in the first month of the year, as tenant demand continues to grow. Her comments came as many agents up and down the country also witnessed a noticeable increase in monthly rents as the number of potential house buyers attempting to get on the property market continued to rise. She said: “There are some fantastic properties to invest in at the moment

in the North West and if people have the money to do so, then that is what we are recommending them to do. Once they made that commitment, there’s a really good chance they will enjoy a regular positive income stream, which will in turn erode the value of their mortgage debt as the years go on.“I think these beneficial times for landlords are set to continue, especially as the base rate doesn’t look like it will increase anytime soon.”Julie, who has worked in the property industry for the past 20 years, also added that couples trying to get on the property market have ‘no other choice’ but to rent, as they are unable

with Julie Zest, director of Zest Lets

to raise the capital to buy their own home and they are also unable to get a mortgage. “It’s difficult for those trying to get a step on the ladder and that’s why renting is so appealing “, said Julie, “However, it’s not the cheapest option as many are spending tens of thousands of pounds each year on a property they don’t own.”

The guys at Kingdom Liverpool and Signature Living teamed up again earlier this month to bring another TOWIE cast member to the city. With a Friday night stay over at the luxurious Masonic Apartment on Bold Street (www.signature-living.co.uk) followed by hosting a night over at Liverpool’s top club Kingdom on Harrington Street it was a long old night for Mario. Hello Lifestyle Readers!

Where to begin…it’s been such a busy month!!

I went to a great event my management team Champions (UK) Plc organised, it was their annual ball held to raise money for the deserving charity Rainbows Hospice for children and young people. This year Andy Abraham performed songs from his new UK theatre tour which starts in March, it was great to get a little preview of the show. Take a look at the website www.historyofthebigbands.com for more information.

I’ve been doing some work with Aviva filming a short internet series for the UKTV website. Also, I filmed some videos for DIY Kitchens who sell amazing, quality kitchens at a fraction of the price you would pay in any retailer. They are currently re-building their website and my videos will be live on the new site sometime in March. Take a look at www.diy-kitchens.com

You may have also seen me on Daybreak as part of their nationwide campaign ‘Get Britain Reading.’ Along with Linda Barker, I gave Sandbrook Primary School a complete makeover to help encourage the children to read more. The campaign highlighted the great work that charities such as Booktrust, National Literacy Trust, Dyslexia Action & the Salvation Army do surrounding the issues of illiteracy and dyslexia.

It’s been a great month and I have more exciting work in the pipelines which I will tell you all about next month!

All the best

Job 80 = Fitting a Letterbox in New Door

Cutting out and fitting a letterbox into a new door can be really easy to do and ensures your mail is always posted through your door and not left on the step to get damaged or lost.

STAGE 1 Start off by setting the position of the letterbox in your door. You will want it to be around 800/900mm high from the floor, and in the centre when measuring from left to right. The letterbox kit will have a sleeve within it, use this as a template to draw around because this will be the exact size as the hole that is required to be cut into door. You can also use your Set Square to make surethe hole your about to cut is level. Remember: you only get one chance at cutting it!

STAGE 2 Using you drill and spade piece, drill 4 holes into the door in all 4 corners of your marked out letterbox. This will allow you to get the Jigsaw blade though the door when you start cutting out the rectangular hole. Once you have cut your 4 edges out, the rectangular piece should slide out and you should be able to fit the centre sleeve from the letterbox kit through the new hole.

STAGE 3 Now, place the front section of the letterbox over the sleeve and there will be two holes on each side of the letterbox cover. Using your pencil, mark the door through the holes and drill through the marks and right though the door using an 8mm drill bit. This will allow the two bolts (found in the kit) slide though the door and hold both the front and rear cover of the letter box in place. Be very careful that you don’t cross tread them or else you’ll end up with a loosely fitted letterbox flap, which will allow both noise and draughts in to your home.

BUSINESS FOCUS...

"Google Me"....

I have been in the presence of a couple of business people who have recently said

"google me" to another business person. How visible are you? If you are in business then you obviously need a Web site. That is your 24/7 shop window. Its advisable to have a presence on Facebook and Twitter. If not then you really need to catch up!

Social sites like Facebook and Twitter can sometimes be deceiving. Great, you have lots

of followers and friends. Are these sites making you any money? You need a presence on these social media sites.

BusinessIf your not making money from them you really should spend less time on them.I would recommend joining Klout and PeerIndex. They consider your social media identities, enter them into proprietary algorithms and rank you according to the influence you have online. Some critics say that these social-influence tools and related scores are inaccurate or volatile. Klout and PeerIndex are the most relevant and talked about tools out there. Klout is more user-friendly and socially comprehensive than PeerIndex, Klout taps into many social outlets (Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, Google+, Instagram, Flickr, YouTube and more) and ranks you according to three key indicators: peerIndex does the same, but I find it a little confusing but it does look more official.Consider joining both Klout and PeerIndex. Increase your online visibility. Show the world how credible you are you in your sector.

A change is as good as a rest, so fresh from dying my hair, I had a well earned one in

Lanzarote with my sister and friend, we ate lovely seafood all week, sat by the pool and drank cocktails all week, what more could you ask for? I’m already thinking of my next trip and have asked Charlie at Crown Travel to hunt me out a good deal for November time.

I am hitting 2012 hard and have been making lots of calls and having lots of meetings as I want this to be a great year business wise, i’ve been lucky enough to sign up 3 brand new clients already this year and i’m excited to see what might be around the corner. There are plenty of networking events and awards ceremonies. At the time of going to print, the next big event in the social diary is the Lifestyle Awards, a couple of my clients are up for awards so i’m looking forward to cheering them on at this fantastic event at the Crowne Plaza.

I recently went to Merchants restaurant to celebrate a good friends birthday, I have to say i’ve never eaten there before and I was more than pleasantly surprised. I had a

lovely chicken dish which was cooked perfectly, it’s so difficult to cook chicken well, I think. It’s a stunning restaurant/cocktail bar in a beautiful listed building. And as its linked to the

hotel 62 Castle Street, you could even stay over if you had one too many wines! Why not?

I have loved the last month and all the great deals in restaurants throughout the city centre, it’s a clever ploy to get us out during the dark nights and have so far enjoyed 50% off at Prego, Gusto and The Noble House. I do love a bargain. Now that spring is in the air there’s another excuse to hit the city centre!

Duly noting that all I’ve done is eat so far this year, I booked in a Segway experience, if you havent had a go before I highly recommend that you do. They are vertical scooters which rely on amazng balancing technology, I would love to buy

one and scoot around the city on it. Its the perfect present to buy the person who has everything. You can get some fantastic deals at the moment on www.buyagift.co.uk
