Once there was a

beautiful bluebell. Shewas dainty and delicate,with blue petals and

pointy green leaves.

One fine spring day, thebluebell noticed severalteeny shoots growing

beside her. My, oh my!

she exclaimed in delight.

It looks like my babies

have started to grow!

Era uma vez uma lindacampainha-azul. Era uma

flor charmosa e delicada,com ptalas azuis e folhas

pontudas.

Num lindo dia deprimavera, a flor percebeu

que vrios brotos cresciamao seu lado. Minha

nossa! exclamou elatoda feliz. Acho que

meus rebentoscomearam a crescer!

The days passed, and soontiny bluebells started to peekout of their buds. First therewere two, then three, and

then five. Pretty soon, eightlittle bluebells were clusteredaround Mama Bluebell.

On the very outside of thecircle there was a particularly

tiny bluebell. His stem was alittle curled up, so MamaBluebell had called him Curly.

He was little andcute, but

sometimesoh,sometimeshe could

be naughty!

Logo fora do pequeno

crculo, havia umaflorzinha bastante

pequena. Seu cauleera meio enrolado,ento a mame

o chamava deVoltinha. Ele erapequeno e bonitinho,mas s vezes... Bem,s vezes Voltinha eralevado!

them. Never stay out in

the sun for too long, baby

bluebells! Always leanunder the shade of ourgreat oak tree, because ifyou stay in the sun for toolong, you might wither anddry up!

Yes, Mama Bluebell! the

bluebells would chorus.

Cada manh mame-florcomeava a lhes ensinar: Nunca tomem soldemais, meus pequenos!

Sempre se escondamdebaixo da sombra de

nosso grande carvalho,porque sol demais farvocs murcharem!

Sim, mame! respondiam juntas as

flores.

One day Curly thought, Hmm,Mama Bluebell told us neverto stay out in the sun for toolong, but it sure looks nice out

there! Perhaps , I could stayout there for just a little while.I think Im going to try it myway.

Oh, wow, he thought, this is great! It feels warm andtoasty! I like this! I could stay in the sun all day. Im so

comfortable. I think Im going to take a nap now.

So Curly stretched out in the sun. Before long he wasfast asleep.

Certo dia, Voltinha pensou: Hum, a mame-flor nosdisse para nunca tomarmos sol demais, mas o sol est

to gostoso! Talvez...eu possa tomar s um pouquinhomais de sol. E assim Voltinha decidiuque ia fazer as coisas sua

maneira.

Ah, pensou ele, que

delcia! To gostoso equentinho! Eu gosto! Pormim ficaria o dia todo nosol. to gostoso! Acho

que vou tirar uma soneca agora.

E assim Voltinha se estirouao sol. E logo adormeceu.

The next thing he knew, Mama Bluebell was shakinghim. Curly! Curly! she was saying. Wake up, Curly!

Curly felt so heavy! His once beautiful blue petals wereall stiff and white and wrinkly. His stem and leaves were

hard and crackly.

Oh, Mama Bluebell! he cried. Im afraid if I move Imight break my stem. What can I do?

Lets pray and ask Jesus to help undo this damage that

youve done, Mama said.

Quando acordou, sua mame osacudia: Filho! Voltinha!Acorde! dizia ela.

Voltinha se sentia to pesado!Seu lindas ptalas azuisestavam todas ressecadas,brancas e sem vida. Seu caule efolhas ficaram duros e quebradios.

Ai, mame! lamentou-se ele. Estou com medo de mexer e quebrarmeu caule. Que vou fazer?

Vamos orar e pedir a Jesus paradesfazer este estrago que voc se causou

respondeu a mame-flor.

And guess whathappened? As theylooked up into the sky, allof a sudden: Plock! Plock!Plock!Tiny droplets of

water began to fall! Itwas raining.

Curly lay there all night,absorbing the rain andletting it soak through hispetals and his stem andhis leaves, making him allfresh and moist again. Thenext morning when MamaBluebell and all the littlebluebells awoke, there

was Curly, standing upust like them.

Adivinhem o queaconteceu? Enquantoolhavam para cima, derepente: Ping, ping, ping!Pequenas gotas dgua

comearam a cair! Era achuva.

Voltinha ficou l deitado anoite toda, absorvendo achuva e deixando-apenetrar em suas ptalas,caule e folhas, retornandovida e umidade a eles.Na manh seguinte,quando a mame-flor etodos os rebentos

acordaram, l estavaVoltinha, de p junto a eles.

Hello, Mama, he said. I feel better today.

Oh, thank You, Lord of the Heavens! Mama Bluebellexclaimed. Im so happy!

I learned a good lesson, Curly said. I learned that itsbetter to obey! And even if I dont understand, Mama

Bluebell knows best, and I should always listen.

Oi, mame disse ele. Hoje me sinto bemmelhor.

Oh, obrigada, Senhor dos Cus! Estou to felizdisse ela.
