Library Lovers News
Christmas 2015
Welcome to the last Library Lovers News for 2015. This is always an
exciting and busy time of year for us all, and we would like to take this
opportunity to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New
Year.
All library branches will be closing for the holidays at lunchtime on
December 24, 2015 and will reopen on January 4, 2016. The afterhours
chutes will be closed during this time, however no items will fall due. Our
online catalogue is available 24/7 and can be accessed at
spydus.southerndowns.qld.gov.au. You are able to log into the catalogue
by using the borrower number on your card, and your password, which is
the first four letters of your surname in capital letters. Once you have
logged into the catalogue you are able to renew your own items, provided
that no-one is waiting for them. Library items are able to be renewed
twice.
Summer Reading Club
The theme for this years Summer Reading
Club is Lost Worlds. Children and teenagers
of any age can join up from the December 1,
2015. SRC will run for the holidays, finishing
up on the January 31, 2016. As always there will be lots of fun activi-
ties to do in your library branch, as well as prizes to be won. The
more books your child reads, the more chances there are to win!
It was the beginning of the greatest Christmas ever. Little
food. No presents. But there was a snowman in their
basement.

If you are looking for things to do over the Christmas break why not try a jigsaw? The
library has a variety of puzzles for both adults and children. The loan period for a jigsaw is
four weeks, with up to two renewals.
If you are worried about running out of
books over Christmas, you could try one
of our preloaded Kindles. These
eReaders are loaded with a variety of
eBooks in a range of genres and can be
borrowed on a four week loan. The
titles loaded onto the Kindles are by
popular authors in each genre category,

Reading Challenge
Logic PuzzleChristmas Progressive Dinner
Alice, Ben, Carol, David, and Elsa who are neighbours, decided to celebrate Christmas Eve
together, using the progressive dinner approach. They would eat one course of dinner at each
place and then move onto the next person's place.
The courses in their Christmas dinner include soup, salad, pasta, steak, and dessert. For dessert,
each one of them ate a different kind of dessert from the following choices: ice cream, cake, pie,
pudding, and trifle.
Soup was served in the home of the person who ate cake for dessert.
Salad was served in Carol's home.
Pasta was not served in Alice's home.
Steak was served in the home of the person who ate pie for dessert.
Dessert was served in David's home.
Ben chose cake for dessert.
Elsa chose pudding for dessert.
Salad was not served in the home of the person who ate ice cream.
Find out which dinner course was served in each person's home, and which dessert did each person
eat? Answer over the page.
