Why e-Learning Days?We have the ability to leverage time, space, and place with technology.

e-Learning Days provide:

● Calendar flexibility● Elimination of Weather Makeup Days● Continuity of teaching and learning when the district is forced

to cancel school due to weather, etc.

Who has been involved in the work to shape our proposal?

● Teacher Leadership Council began investigating in October 2019.

● Consulted districts in S.C. involved in pilot phases 1 and 2

● Consulted districts out-of-state

● S.C. Education Oversight Committee

● Input from advisory groups, including parents, teachers, students, principals, central services leaders = widespread support

What are e-Learning Days?In the event of school cancellation due to inclement weather …

● Teachers and students engage in meaningful learning experiences from home.

● Other employees engage in online professional learning opportunities and alternate assignments.

● All can leverage a five-day grace period to complete the equivalent of one day of school/work.

● We can eliminate weather make-up days from the district’s academic calendar.

How will e-Learning Days work?Teachers in grades 4–12 will make digital

assignments and resources available

through district learning management

system (LMS.)

Teachers will establish online office hours

for support and to monitor accountability

within the LMS.

How will e-Learning Days work?

Students in grades 4–12 will access materials and complete assignments digitally.

Students who meet requirements within the five-day window will be considered present on the canceled day of school.

How will e-Learning Days work?In grades 4K-3, students will receive a hard copy of interdisciplinary learning exercises designed to extend their current learning.

The same five-day window for

submission will apply to these grade levels.

Identify existing access to a home device and internet for students in grades 4 and 5.

Establish standard procedures for distributing a device to students who require one.

When will we use e-Learning Days?

Pending district Board and EOC approval of the district’s application, e-Learning Days will begin August 2020.

The EOC will notify the district when they approve our application (by end of the 19–20 School Year).
