CONCEPT:
Direction
STATEMENT:
Being guided or managed to move with confi dence on your journey.
DESIGN STATEMENT:
The San Francisco offi ce will enthusiastically embrace the concept of direction in their new home by creating an overall sense of fl ow. Open communication will be encouraged in each respective department through the use of an open layout.
This offi ce will be implementing sustainability in their design to relay to their clientele that they not only care about the journeys we are all on and the quality of them - but that they also value the earth that we are each experiencing these journeys on.

For the company branding, a compass was used which felt like a natural extension from the concept of direction.
When space planning, a radial design was adopted and applied.

Bowsprit is an advertising agency whose main offi ce is located in New York City. They are looking to open a sister location in the San Francisco Bay area.
The project requirements were to implement a sustainable design initiative, an open offi ce plan to support creativity and interaction, and to allow those passing by outside to have the ability to peek into the offi ce so that they may get a glance of the creative process.
The concept of direction is seen in elements such as curved walls, the placement of light fi xtures in reception and in hanging wood panels that have a wave like fl ow to them.
There is an underlying sense of movement that is seen throughout the design which ties into the concept well.

The lobby is separate from the reception area in this offi ce, but aspects of the offi ce design fl ow into it. A custom light fi xture was created for this area and was inspired by the lines connecting a boat to its bowsprit.

Reception relays the concept of direction with clever light fi xtures that act as subtle guides into the offi ce and with a recycled glass structure behind the front desk that is inspired by the shape of a wave crashing.
The large conference room was designed to have the effect of being under water. The light fi xture above the conference room table promotes this as it is an abstraction of a school of fi sh in motion.

Private offi ces are creative areas that reinforce to those working, collaborating or meeting in them that this agency is forward thinking and is unique in their approach to assisting their clients in reaching their goals.
The break room has ombre painted reclaimed wood walls. The ombre is a sunwashed yellow which is symbolic of permanence and something that has weathered the test of time.
Joseph & Denise Stradtham are relocating back to Western New York from Northern California. They have purchased a home in the Tonawanda, NY area for a great price. The home is a “fi xer upper” that they are excited about making theirs.
This couple is looking to have a space created that is comfortable and creative and they would like to have a place where they can relax and refresh. They describe themselves as being fun and relaxed. They have an appreciation for art, color, and warm, rustic elements.

The living room is a warm and comfortable area for entertaining or relaxing. The use of mirrors and vibrantly colored accessories make it feel open and inviting.

This kitchen embraces some rustic elements, a black and white color palette and has an eat in area that lets in a lot of natural light.

This offi ce/retreat combination has a light and fresh color palette. This room offers a chaise lounge for unique seating.
Elegance and some Deco inspired elements are seen in the dining area making it a attractive room for guests to see upon entering the home.

This master bath has a spa-like feel with elements of luxury implemented in the design.
The master bedroom is fun and has some glamourous touches. The colors and textures found in here make this a great room to unwind and rest in.

Clean and pure; newly produced, made, gathered.
DESIGN STATEMENT:
Utilizing the domino frame, this single family home is being designed with a modern appeal that will fi t the lifestyle of its new artistic inhabitants. The home will provide a source of inspiration with its shape, light and landscape.
A muted color palette will provide openness and will act as a blank palette with which each artist can utilize to their advantage to showcase their individual works of art.

The art studio space located on the fi rst fl oor has a lovely and inspiring view of the back yard.
A curtain wall runs the length of this fl oor along the back of the home. Wood slats placed thoughtfully on the outside provide a way to both defl ect light when the sun is strong and adds some privacy.
